I remember a 1962 war between India and China in the most mountainous region you can imagine, China won some big mountains.

India and Pakistan fought a major war in 1971over Bangladesh, since the British partitioned India in 1947 and created Pakistan most of the periodic hostilities were over Kashmir.

The problem now is that both countries have about 170 nuclear weapons each. A terror attack killed 26 Indian tourists, now India hit back. Pakistan vows it will hit India.

Will this potential war simmer down or heat up?

It's already heated up. Pakistan has retaliated to India's attacks by shooting down two Indian jets.

These Skirmishes have happened almost seasonally for last 50 + years

Now, both sides are nuclear powers. Getting close to the tripwire.

This is interesting as the heat in the oven is climbing. Wow. Something else.

I’d love to see both nations make nice nice.

But a “poll” about it? Why? My vote — one way or the other — will have absolutely no impact on how it turns out.

I would hope that both sides simmer down.

That's not going to happen anytime soon. It may escalate a bit more before it deescalates. The world is an interesting place today for sure.

We all hope for peace.
The poll is reality. War or peace? I know they both hate each other, at least historically. Question is how much.
India usually kicks ass, so there is that to consider.
People bet on anything, I always put polls in, just to see where posters are on various issues.

If the poll concludes that “yes, war is gonna happen” that doesn’t tell us whether it will or won’t.

No but it shows our perception of reality between those two countries.
Are our perceptions accurate or biased/inaccurate?
What are our perceptions based on, probably inaccurate news reports.

The essence of war though in distant lands doesn't really conjure up any deep emotion or great understanding of the details. Therefore, as long as nuclear annihilation is avoided and innocent citizens aren't killed, I suppose these unfortunate occurrences which these two nations tend to partake in will eventually pass, often as quickly as they arrived. Two governments having their latest pissing contest.

I would prefer peace always of course, but these skirmishes to varying degrees have been going on since the Second World War. As have often been the case due to the once powerful British Empire dealing with separation, divisions and opposing interests that often occurred.

Ultimately, without being too informed on the details and history I would impulsively hope for India to succeed. They believe in democracy, their religious beliefs are generally more peaceful and on a selfish note I was helped quite a great deal in my initial learning of A.I through free Indian instructors which raised a level of endearment for them. In short, I sense a camaraderie with them through communication, the secret weapon of world peace.

Their government has meddled in our elections though and they have been charged with murdering citizens on our soil, those they claim are terrorists that pose a threat to India. Regardless, it is a crime in Canada and I can not support violations of law and citizens rights, in particular being a victim myself.

They hurt their relations with us for little gain as far as I can see. That is an addendum to this conflict obviously.
