I was living in Hong Kong in the late 90's and witnessed an interesting phenomenon.

Up till then prostitutes, always very ubiquitous around Hong Kong entertainment districts, were exclusively Asian.

After the fall of The Soviet Union, an influx of prostitutes from the former Soviet Territories came to Hong Kong.

Tall (by local standards), long-legged and always blonde, the local Chinese guys went crazy for them.

On closer inspection, they wore very heavy makeup and smelled pretty bad. But, the local guys didn't care, as long as they were blonde.
