Yes, I celebrated it when I lived in Munich and, later, in the Black Forest where it is usually called Fasching.

It roughly corresponds to Mardi Gras and, I believe, was first celebrated in the 1200s .
The season has started again!
 
next Thursday is Fat Thursday
or Weiberfasnacht = Women.s Karneval

Men are advised not to wear ties on that day, for women have the right to cut them off!
