Sorry to point this out, but this is all about semantics. "Privilege" is a loaded word, implying getting some advantage for nothing. The discussion is all about advantages, most of which have nothing to do with being "White." There are measurable advantages to,

• having married parents and living in an intact family,
• having a supportive extended family (and/or network of friends),
• having parents who are educated and/or successful,
• having influential mentors (teachers, coaches, ministers, priests, etc.),
• living in a family that is religious and promotes moral and ethical behavior,
• living in a culture where hard work is highly valued,
• living in a school district that is in a prosperous area (or have access to a good charter school),
• having parents who value education highly,
• being tall, pretty, or handsome,
• having innate talents, skills, or aptitudes that have economic value.

None of this has anything to do with race or ethnicity or citizenship status, however, a lot of these advantages are more common in some ethnic groups than others. Most successful people could look at that list and identify several unearned advantages that they have enjoyed (many unsuccessful people as well).

When you say someone benefits from "White Privilege," what is really being said is that they have had more of those advantages that a typical Black person, but it's not about race, it's about these other factors which may or may not be available to an individual Black person.
