No Katz, the point I was making is that it's sad that an adult person - Shootspeeders - chooses to spend his/her time by going on a random internet forum and bashing a 19 year old for not being able to read well.

He/she offers no solutions to the problems and no constructive criticism; the entire reason for the post is to derive satisfaction from bashing on someone else.

I'm just calling out the absurdity of the situation.

This is a discussion group. That's what we do, discuss. Some do it well some not so well. Jeantel's not being able to read or write is only part of her problem. She thinks she can! That's where the crux of the difficulty lies. That's the saddest part. She has a 3.0 GPA in her high school, and she's 19 for that. If Rachel Jeantel decides that she really does want to advance, she will never know why she can't. The weight of her educational disability will descend like a brick thrown from a ten story building. She will continue to believe herself capable and something else is interfering.

Sadder yet, is that these kinds of problems faced by young people like Rachel Jeantel are repeated in the millions every day. That certainly deserves discussion.

I know the girl is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but wasn't she texting and using a cell phone during the court proceedings? how do you do that if you are illiterate?

She's not totally illiterate. She's functionally illiterate. Someone who can completely understand what "b4" means will be mystified when they see "before".

Though with the apparent lack of jobs in the U.S. right now flipping burgers may actually become a respectable job again...

In the meantime, the American taxpayer will have to underwrite the funding for her "education" and some far better qualified candidate will go begging for lack of space in the classes.

Probably means that she should improve her lot through personal dedication and hard work/study instead of relying on affirmative action to compensate for her obvious failings.

Not really. The only bright spot in this is that some radio DJ clown will be paying for her education, if she even qualifies to attend college.

The poor girl is illiterate, she may never be literate enough to read or understand a law book and certainly will never be able to write an exam. Yet, she has so little understanding of the realities of her lack of knowledge, she thinks she could be a lawyer. If that's even true.

Nonsense. First off, race and religion is only one factor, a person still has to have a top GPA and LSAT score to get into a good to great school. To go to Northwestern, you have to have close to a 4.0 in undergrad and a top LSAT score, race is only a minor factor.

Going to a decent to shit law school is a waste of money and makes no sense now-a-days.

Second, the bar exam is race and religion neutral. You get no advantages or disadvantages by you race or ethnicity when taking the exam. There is a significant percent of African Americans that fail the exam and a prime bitching point for the race baiters on the test being racial insensitive!

HAHAHA. URANIDIOT. Affirmative action is everywhere. Undergrad and Law School and at the bar exam. America has thousands of illiterate black lawyers and Jeantel knows that.

The guy who volunteered to pay for her college education said it has to be an HBCU so it would appear she's just gonna take the place of some equally unqualified black. The benefactor knows she would never be accepted by a real college.

MLK took the GRE back in 1951 and got 350 verbal, 270 math!!!
