and what from the list?

I checked off just a couple of things from the list and could add additional places, writers, musicians etc.

Since I lived in Freiburg i. Br. and you live in the Black Forest, I was wondering if you had ever heard of Weinstraße which is a road that goes along the Rhine and in and out of France at different poi.

My friends and I rode bicycles either into the Alps or into France where there were wine stands every few kilometers.
After a long day on the road, we would enjoy a great meal, roll out the sleeping bags and sleep wonderfully through the night.

I have very fond memories of both the place and the time.

Thanks,

Thuringer Wald, Franconia, giant snowmen and Uncle Heinz's Microbrauerei! :D

i used to live near the Badische weinstraße

logically most would say berlin as it has a vast history [wall] and then likely hamburg, munich and frankfurt

I had to correct my post because I forgot to quote one of your answers - that's why your answer comes now in front of my answer. No problem - but good to know if this is confusing.

In general it can still happen in Germany that an "Amtsinhaber" = an "office holder" is no private person at all but only an official person. Like a judge for example who never leaves psychologically his courtroom.
