If you are black, and you believe...

There is a reason that Senate Republicans don't support this bill.....they know it might hurt Republican voters just as much as Democratic voters.

Of course, that thought probably never even entered your mind.

The SAVE Act will blow up in Trump's face....just like everything else does.
:cuckoo:

The documents required to vote under this bill would seem to take much the same effort to acquire as the documents needed to acquire a passport.

You can pretend that's not a hindrance to sectors of the population, especially those more likely to vote Democratic Party, that's the shtick after all.
Why those likely to vote Democrat?

Thats actually one of my two major objections. The other simply being timing. it took years for Real ID to get in place (it sort of is anyway). It would need time AND MONEY for the Feds to get the systems in place to do this smoothly. Amend the bill to provide adequate funding for the Fed agencies linked, and create a two year timeline to implement, with performance steps along the way.
Or even better, do this and link to the REAL ID and Passport service so that those two are auto done and you can get a passport with a simple request and photo since all the documentation is there.
That is essential in there. In the bill, the the States can use the Fed system or ask for any citizenship information that the Fed have.

If you care it's under a section entitled "(5) AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION"

I say this as getting a new passport was a MAJOR pain for the wife with her name changes.
The problem is that States are not required to share information with the Fed, which leads to your problem. How many times has she changed her name? We went through that with SS many moons ago, and the only minor hoop was providing a copy of our marriage license, which we had.

We are not disagreeing. I am just noting operational considerations of timing to getting that put in place, and setting up efficient links with the states.

I don't doubt it. Its like the NCIS system where states are not required to submit information to keep it current. Add that to lingo.

She had let it lapse I think, hence it being a pain. She won't make that mistake again.
