Actually, I haven't said one way or another what happens if the line of succession kicks in. As it happens, I would say that whoever in the line of succession takes office DOES fulfill the rest of the term. There have been times in the past when the line of succession kicked in and the Vice President took over. When that happened, he remained until that term ended. No reason to think the same doesn't hold true for anyone else in the line of succession.

We also had the discussion about certification deadlines after the 2000 election, because Florida has a law requiring the votes to be certified by a specific date, or they become null. The Florida Secretary of State certified the votes, and the Democrats had conniptions because they weren't done counting. She got called everything but a white woman and accused of trying to "steal the election", when she was actually just following the law.

I haven't researched every single state, but I believe they all have deadlines by which their vote counts have to be certified.

Well, as we saw with the 2000 election, all Hell will break loose about the Secretaries of State - or whatever the individual states have - certifying the election results they have on the deadline, too.

I don't recall a Secretary of State pulling a Kim Gardner, and ignoring the Law and just certifying her preferred candidates.
So thanks for easing my concerns. There appears to be adequate safeguards in place.
On another thread, one concern is USPS workers not delivering ballots from certain areas to be counted. It never ends.

And it’s August.. democrats are cheating on a wide scale and it will take years to figure out if the person is alive if it’s mailed out, and ballot harvesting.. so I ask democrats is it worth it? I believe there are laws that require election results to be certified by a certain date or they become invalid. Also, the 20th Amendment states that the Presidential term of office expires on January 20th, whether there's an elected successor or not.

To whom are you speaking? The Constitution determines the Presidential term, and it ends Jan. 20th. of the year ending the four year mandate. The succession to the post, if no one were elected, is also Constitutional. It has nothing to do with anyone's "mail in nonsense", and certainly not mine, as I never mentioned it. Trump is outta there on January 20th, whether there's an election or not. However, if the votes aren't counted and certified by the deadline, they cease to exist.

I don't know off the top of my head if there's a federal one anywhere, but I believe each state has their own deadline for certifying votes. I'd have to research if there's a federal one.

I would say that each state needs to have their certified EC votes to Congress by:

I'm fairly certain that what would happen is the Secretaries of State - or whatever - of each state would certify whatever election returns they had available to them on the deadline, rather than not certify anything. If that's not all the actual votes, oh well. I actually have no idea what would happen if a state didn't certify any results at all.

No, the Democrats are NOT Cheating. The only political party actively seeking to suppress the Constitutionally Protect Right To Vote are the RePuBliKlans. Under current circumstances, mainly the Pandemic we are suffering under, V.B.M. (a.k.a. "Absentee Voting") would the best logical course of action. Voter Fraud (next up the non-existent ConJob hit parade) via V.B.M. is next impossible. The bar code on the envelope used to return the V.B.M. contains information of the voter i.e, Name, Address, Date of Birth and Social Security Number makes fraud impossible. Signatures on the Ballot and Voter Registration Form must match or the ballot is tossed.

I have been encouraging people to NOT USE THE U.S.P.S. for their V.B.M. Instead, use the collection box(es) put out by your Registrar of Voters and/or your Secretary of State. You can also drop them off at your polling station on election day.

Actually, I haven't said one way or another what happens if the line of succession kicks in. As it happens, I would say that whoever in the line of succession takes office DOES fulfill the rest of the term. There have been times in the past when the line of succession kicked in and the Vice President took over. When that happened, he remained until that term ended. No reason to think the same doesn't hold true for anyone else in the line of succession.

We also had the discussion about certification deadlines after the 2000 election, because Florida has a law requiring the votes to be certified by a specific date, or they become null. The Florida Secretary of State certified the votes, and the Democrats had conniptions because they weren't done counting. She got called everything but a white woman and accused of trying to "steal the election", when she was actually just following the law.

I haven't researched every single state, but I believe they all have deadlines by which their vote counts have to be certified.

Having worked at the USPS, I can tell you that you're not wrong to be concerned. There's a reason why our voting system is designed to not break the chain of custody if it can possibly be helped.
