They don't know what they are doing because they are generally the progeny of the middle-class, the doctors, lawyers and other professionals, people who don't know all that much about economics but then due to soft lifestyles allowing soft outlooks, know how to spend lots of money on the economically unproductive of society. An imbalance redressed with the return to government of the conservatives that don't know all that much about society, but know that money needs to be spent on productivity.
