In the early 20th century, any reference to "Palestinian" was only a very loose designation for all those who lived in the Mandate of Palestine, including Jews, Druze and Arabs and was not widely used since the people, themselves, referred to themselves as Jews, Druze and Arabs. It was only after Arafat encouraged Arabs to call themselves "Palestinian" did the term refer to just the Arab group.
I know some Palestinians here and there. Whether they're also "Arab" -- or Druze, or Muslim, or whatever --- I have no idea. Nor is it relevant. "Palestine" refers to a place. Just as if someone were "Iberian" it wouldn't tell me if they were Spanish, Portuguese, Catalonian or Basque, nor would it reveal their religion, nor would I care.
Were the composers of the song Italians? I am seeing a lot of Jewish bands and even Eddie Cantor singing it. So, is it an Italian song?
The ODJB were Italians. You claimed they were Jews. I don't know the heritage of the songwriters, nor (again) do I care. The point was here's a pop song from 1920, using the (adapted) name of "Palestine" --- which means the term was already known and not a latter-day "invention".
Your waste of bad manners is fascinating, but the word Palestine was hardly ever used before the British decided to use it as the title for their mandate for the Jewish homeland.
Again, see above, pop song 1920, and again see previous posts documenting the name going back at least 2500 years.
And it was always used to refer to a region, and not a country or a people.
Po
Whatever.

I did not say that the word Palestine was unknown, what I said was that even after the Romans renamed Judea as Syria Palestinia, the word was not very in use. Any more than the word for Jerusalem was being used.
No you didn't. Dogmaphobe tried to sell that one. You jumped in.
Did the Byzantine, Muslims, Crusaders, Ottomans or visitors to the area refer to it as Palestine, or to Jerusalem as Aurelia Capitolia?
I don't know and I don't care. Once again, nothing in this tangent was about Byzantines, Muslims, Jews, Druze, Crusaders, Ottomans, Sofas, Davenports, Hassocks or Barcaloungers. It's simply about the etymology of the term "Palestine". Once again stop plugging in shit that was never there.
