No more having to spend a certain amount of money to use my credit/debit card or getting charged a fee by some stores to use my CC/debit card. So now when I go to the market to buy food I will only bring a certain amount of cash so I can spend less. I was spending more money in the market because I was using a bigger pot of money. Now I won't be able to over spend because I can't spend more what's in my wallet.

So I am confident now I can increase my savings by paying cash for everything. Like last night when I was in the market my bill came to $17.57 and I just happen to have $18.00 in cash on me:)

Just wish I had thought of this a year ago.

I'm 66 and have been using 95 percent cash since I started having more than 5 bucks in my wallet . Sure I use a credit card to rent a car or get a hotel room but even then I use cash at checkout or car return if they will take it . I do use credit for online purchase but all purchases are paid for in full on a monthly basis . I have 2 bank / visa credit cards and no debit card , I have never used an ATM and I carry cash . Its easy for me because 50 years ago credit cards were not widely used and I never saw my parents use a credit card . Most credit cards were Sears , Pennys and Monkey Wards credit cards . I have excellent credit so credit cards and credit are no problem .

yeah CC will now only be for online purchases which is not many in my case.

Sometimes, especially when my children were young I just threw things in the basket, and checked out without even knowing what I spent. I was lucky to get out of the store those days with 2 boys..lol

Now I pay much more attention to what I spend , as well as the scams they use to make you think your saving money in stores and online....

Online shopping is so much faster than running around to 20 stores looking for the right item that you like.. I don't know How I built my home back in 2000 without the internet yet in my home to search and look around. ...

---------------------------------- I also stay away from store cards . Why would anyone with a brain want to tell people that they drink 20 quarts of hunerd / hundred proof whiskey , smoke 50 packs of Camel Straights and drink 40 cases of Colt 45 a week just to save 57 cents . :afro:

CASH is PRIVACY and it will someday go the way of all other privacy in the modern world .

I do believe that's the first time I ticked a "Winner" on one of your threads. Good plan, that's using your noggin.

I get 20 cents on the dollar off for gas in my area using my store points..

I bet they will just put chips in your hands and you scan your hands in 10 or less years.

I did that today, and it was handy since gas prices are about to spike because of that pipeline break.

All the store does with that info besides cut your gasoline bill is tailor what coupons their cashier machine spits out so you save on other stuff too. I don't mind that either.

But as far as the whiskey and ciggies and malt liquor --- nobody knows that you're buying it for yourself. And yet everybody in the store can see you checking out with it. Plus, Pismoe ---- you just posted it on the internets, and now the whole world knows. Even now they're snickering at your buying habits in Mongolia.

Yes I got so sick of going into stores, especially the ones ran by chinese people with a sign up saying........"$10 minimum to use your credit card"

I guess I am boring now, they would snooze at what I buy these days...

I hate how facebook, and google follow you around online with ads to buy what you were just researching online.
I have blockers but they find new ways to creep onto my pages...

I am 60 this year and feel so bad for the young folks... I was just thinking about this today while seeing this group of young girls all with their cell phones in their face....

You know why they do that, right? Because the card companies gouge them. So you're doing both them and yourself a favor.

And it makes sense to spend only what you can see in your hand. Otherwise it's an abstract and it becomes the horror story later on when you check your bank account and go "I have HOW MUCH left??"
