A reinstated obesity lawsuit against McDonald's may have larger implications for the restaurant and food industries, lawyer and consumer advocacy groups said.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York ruled Tuesday that the Oak Brook, Ill., hamburger giant must face part of a lawsuit brought by New York teenagers who say McDonald's food and its misleading advertisements caused their obesity.

McDonald's thinks the suit will be dismissed.
Can you imagine the feast the trial lawyers would have if this case succeeded? Way bigger than the tobacco ripoffs.

``I don't think McDonald's has misled anybody in any way,'' said Peter Goldman, who helps manage about $1 billion at Chicago Asset Management, including McDonald's shares. ``I've never seen any claims that you should eat there every day. It boggles my mind that this kind of thing can happen.''
