As a landlord who rented to lower income people, I didn't raise my rents in order to recover higher property taxes. But that's just me. I bought my apartment building to fund my retirement. The guy next door bought his to put his kids through college, so not only did he raise rents, but he let the property go to hell. There's always a back story.
