How to save inner city schools.

So, what do you do about that?
I just said. Take steps to reduce dependency on it, which Trump and the GOP did by requiring part-time job requirements. The Democrats tried to block it because they want as many people unemployed and totally dependent as possible.

Also, we need more restrictions on food stamps. No candy, no junk food, no soda. If people want that stuff, they’ll have to get at least a part-time job and pay for it with their own money.

You can see why issues are often so intractable. You have ignorant dopes like transhuyaman who drop pointless nonsense based on "everybody knows" nothing, and hypocrites like IM2 who blather on about this or that racial issue but never lift a finger or get off their ass to actually do anything. Meanwhile, "other countries" selectively educate and even more selectively test the best of their students while we work at educating and testing ALL school aged kids here. Go figure.

At least that's something. Didn't Clinton/Gingrich try that way back when? Not sure that would show up in educational results for a few decades though.

That might be good for nutrition but would be a ***** to pass legislatively and very likely not have much effect on educational results.

... Point out one person here who doesn’t think you’re an idiot.
Ask the actual teachers here, big mouth. Then you can go ask the other kids on the playground how popular you are!

Q. How do you sculpt an elephant?
A. Chip away everything that doesn't look like an elephant.

Remove anything that doesn't look like a successful school. That would include some teachers and students.

Successful inner-city schools could be copied as well.

You can't remove students from a public school unless they are a danger to others.

I've had students afraid to walk to and from school because they had to pass through several gang territories (yes, girls too). Some of these gangs insist young students carry for them or join them, which consequences for refusal.

How do you fix that one?

I have some students who come to school hungry because they have no food at home.

I have some students who have to work the overnight shift then come directly to school. Of course they fall asleep in class.

I have some students who have to bring their own children to school.

I have some students with one or both parents dependent on drugs and/or alcohol or suffering from mental illness or only occasionally home or who end up shot or worse.
