Lets be honest here. One salary of $30 per hour isnt much of anything. Thats a meager pittance. And it will NOT be even close enough to support one person much less a wife and kids. Try again.

No need to depend solely on wages. Save and invest. Make sure you pay into SS. Don't retire, keep working. Don't throw away your highest earning years. Warren Buffet is 95 and still working. We're all rich in time. No need to quit working at 65. Care for your health and keep going.

Lot of people get bored in retirement and take low paying part time jobs. Why not retain high paying jobs for a few more years. Some actually start another career after retiring from one.

Of course, if one wants to retire that's fine too as long as you can afford to.
