I live in Nebraska ( republican ), our local law enforcement groups all agreed they cannot assist ICE in their work , but they agreed not to hamper them either. The thought behind that reasoning was if they helped them they are not serving the interests of all the people they are serving. That would make them less reliable and less trust worthy in their mission to serve the public. The last thing local police need is having public trust erode for them. They wouldn't be effective in their jobs if that happens. Now you may begin to understand all the problems ICE is facing, Their credibility is already questionable.

I don't know why the Nebraska cops would make that terribly flawed judgment. It's highly ill-advised.

FYI the St. Paul police department and the Minneapolis police department have had a fierce rivalry that began back in the 1800's . Could be another valid reason those fools made that suggestion. Even they know better.
