I know one thing, its a hellva lot stronger than it was when I was a teen. It should be legal, it is stupid that it is not. Legalize it and Tax the hell out of it. Shut down the mexicans bringing it into the states.
Taxing the hell out of it, which liberals surely will do, most assuredly will mean the black market will continue.
They should make it legal to grow a certian amount yourself, just like it is legal to brew beer and make a certian amount of moonshine.
I agree. In California, if you have a DR recommendation for medical use ($35.00 and easy to get) you can legally grow your own pot - up to 6 mature or 12 immature plant (there are other licenses that allow you to grow more too). It costs $99.00 to buy an excellent hydroponic box and seeds are cheap. From seed to weed takes about 4 months.

Anyway, with 6 plants (depending on stain and other factors of course) the worst case yield would be at least an ounce -and best case 6 ounces....

PS- High quality "plant material" (the ones that let you put weed, not wax or oil, in them directly) vaporizers sell for roughly $200.00 and are easy to use.

The problem is liberals will ignore that smoking it causes lung cancer.
Pot Smoking Not Linked to Lung Cancer
Study Shows No Increased Risk for Even the Heaviest Marijuana Smokers

May 23, 2006 -- People who smoke marijuana do not appear to be at increased risk for developing lung cancer, new research suggests.

While a clear increase in cancer risk was seen among cigarette smokers in the study, no such association was seen for regular cannabis users.

Even very heavy, long-term marijuana users who had smoked more than 22,000 joints over a lifetime seemed to have no greater risk than infrequent marijuana users or nonusers.

The findings surprised the study’s researchers, who expected to see an increase in cancer among people who smoked marijuana regularly in their youth.

“We know that there are as many or more carcinogens and co-carcinogens in marijuana smoke as in cigarettes,” researcher Donald Tashkin, MD, of UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine tells WebMD. “But we did not find any evidence for an increase in cancer risk for even heavy marijuana smoking.” Carcinogens are substances that cause cancer.

It's not very; people use it exclusively to alter their mental state and perception of their surroundings. After a while they lose qualms about driving, and being high alters their perceptions of their situations in driving emergencies. It can also cause them to routinize their reactions - like pull up to a stop sign, look left and see a car a seemingly safe distance away, look right and having fulfilled that routine obligation without a quick check back to the left - pull out in front of a moving car.

Furthermore, when asked about their use on a medical form when seeking medical care, not answer truthfully out of fear. That can be harmful to their health and they may get inappropriate treatment.

Never mind the cost of dope; what is it now $400 and more an ounce? That comes down to at least $50 a week for a daily user. Doesn't that do damage to a small family's budget? Will a user be honest with a spouse about that size expenditure? That leads to a deterioration of trust and damages a relationship.

I can think of a multitude of problems arising from its use that are usually NOT considered.
The most dangerous effects of marijuana use is it's the effect on criminal justice system.
I think that is true but the question of harm, as I understand the thread is if Pot was legal then what would be the harm....(?)
That's how I am responding.

Cigarettes, weed, or walking through the smoke of a grass fire, no smoke of any kind is harmless to the lungs.

Brownies on the other hand....

However, so long as it is illegal, use at the risk to your freedom.

Liberals seem to want getting high to be legal. More and more people high out of their minds, contributing nothing to society, helps their cause. The more dysfunctional people the merrier Democrats are, just more votes to tax the shit out of the producers in order to redistribute to the lazy.

Its all part of the agenda folks. After weed is legal, they'll push for Meth too.
Not too long ago (as in, in the lifetimes of people on this forum), meth WAS legal!

Safe?

Don't drive stoned.

If it were legal, I would take it for glaucoma if it would help.

I think that would defeat the purpose of the law which is to decriminalize the sale and use. There are an awfully lot of people that use marijuana that don't have a place to grow it.

Liberals like a lot of conservatives want to repeal a law that's become unenforceable, distracts the criminal justice system from more serious crimes, and funnels billions of dollars into organized crime and drug cartels.

for those who didn't see Willie Nelson on Bill Maher Friday night -
Pot is pretty safe as drugs go but that doesn't mean users aren't weak minded morons that can't cope with the real world.

Only idiots need drugs.

There're a lot of people that are social users just like social drinkers. For those with addictive personalities, they may well get hooked on pot just like they get hooked on hard drugs, alcohol, tobacco, food, or gambling. The problem is not the vehicle for the addiction, it's the person.

Anytime you make the sale a commodity illegal, you create demand which increases prices and attracts criminal elements. Since it's illegal, it can't be taxed or regulated which makes it even more profitable. Thus it attracts organized crime like bees to honey. However, some commodities are so dangerous to the public that you have to make them illegal. That is not the case with marijuana. The only thing the banning of the sale and use of marijuana does is funnel billions of dollars to organize crime and distract the criminal justice system from more serious crimes.

Marijuana itself, grown, harvested, and rolled up into a joint is all but 100% safe. Inhaling any kind of smoke is never totally safe, but as to the properties of the drug, it's safer than aspirin. The horror stories the media latches onto involve the marijuana being contaminated with other things. Or being imbibed in such a way that the THC is highly concentrated as in foods. Safest way to enjoy marijuana is with a vaporizer. Greatly reduces any damage from inhaling smoke and just delivers the vapor form. So imbibed you're better off doing that than taking an aspirin, or ingesting cough syrup.

Out here in the middle.
The problem is liberals will ignore that smoking it causes lung cancer.
I had a chest X-Ray in 96 and the doc asked me if I smoked. I said no being technically true. "Odd" he said: "you have a lot of dark shadows in your lungs"

I hadn't smoked cigs since 1972, but I was a daily user of weed.
You take deeper inhales with pot and hold it in longer. If legalized, and cheaper, people will smoke more and there will be more lung cancers as a result. My best bud is dying from lung cancer right now and he only smoked pot.
The lung cancer rates among people who only smoke MJ approaches that of the general population.

I smoke every now and then (for about 12 years now), not so sure about what you say about holding it in longer gets you higher. When I started, I held it in till I almost passed out, and now it's just in, then out, like a cigarette. Have you ever seen a cigarette smoker hold it in for 30 seconds?

This is just personal experience, and from what everyone else I smoke with does. Some maybe a little longer than others, but maybe a few seconds at most.

Cancer? What doesnt' cause cancer? Serious. Man made synthetic chemicals are EVERYWHERE, in our clothes, homes, cars, workplace, and we are exposed everyday. How many people get cancer who don't smoke weed?
