First off "spankings" are NOT "whippings". Spanking is done with the hand. Whippings are done using an object - belt, stick, or paddle. They are not the same thing at all.

Secondly, corporal punishment is not "evil", but it is child abuse.

I was spanked and it was useless. Children who are hit, learn to hit others. Fear of a spanking never stopped me from doing anything.

I never spanked any of my children. There are other, more effective ways of discipline that respect a child's bodily autonomy and doesn't cause them harm or pain.
