Those who go to heaven are those for whom Jesus is Lord and Savior.
Jesus is the key.
Only the church is being judged now. The rest won't be judged until the general resurrection during the millennium.

The Church Christ founded says what Jesus said, namely that FEW
find the narrow way (Mt 7, Lk 13...).
Canonized saints have said EXTREMELY few
Most people listen to their 3 worst enemies: the world, the flesh and the devil. And if you listen to that last one too much (actually all of them speak to us all the days of our lives...), you will believe anything and your false beliefs will land you in Hell.

I've read the Bible (DR version) cover to cover TWICE. It's very Catholic, contrary to the lies you hear ubiquitously.... incessantly
The KJV was written for the English-speaking descendants of the northern kingdom, translated for their brother descendants in the region as well.

To me heaven is the highest degree you can reach in the after life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that there are varying degrees of salvation in the afterlife. The highest is the celestial kingdom, below that is the terrestrial kingdom, and under that is the telestial kingdom. For the sons of Perdition they will go to a place called Outer Darkness which is a kingdom without any glory. The celestial kingdom is the kingdom with the highest degree of glory and is also known as the kingdom of heaven. So there will only be few who actually make it to the celestial kingdom. For the revelation on this see Doctrine and Covenants 76.
Those few number 144000, is that right?

Yeh, did I mention also that the Catholic Church is about the most hated entity that ever existed in the world?

Not true. World leaders get in line to hobnob with the Pope and nation after nation rolls out the red carpet for him. As well, the Holy See is the only religious organization in the world that is recognized by the world as being its own nation. Yes, the world loves the Holy See.

Matthew 7:14
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Jesus said few find it but he didn't declare that the lost are sent to Hell. That's an assumption by many Christians.

carrot / stick mentality.......... ~S~

Not really.

God created us and Earth is our proving grounds. We're invited to join his Kingdom in Paradise IF we can learn to NOT be an asshole to others. God's people join him after death. Assholes go elsewhere.

Jesus said FEW find the narrow way to Heaven (Mt 7:14... Lk 13:24... etc)
But then you have canonized saints who tell us EXCEEDINGLY few make it...

That sounds about right. This is where I get confused. Jesus saved us from our sins, but not so we'd all go to heaven but so fewer would go to hell.

My understanding is Heaven is for the few. They have removed all sin from their lives, made many penances, and cast away all love for earthy life to spend all of eternity at God's side again.

The rest of us go to Purgatory to return to earthy life to work out our bad karma again and to try to get it right.

But those who have committed true abominations in God's eyes go to hell, only to return in some lower animal form and they must work their way back to earthy life.

made many penances

Salvation isn't earned; it's a gift of grace as a result of Jesus's sacrifice. Penances are worthless to God. What Jesus taught was for us to repent from wrongdoing, obey God's commandments, and to love God and one another. That's it.

Purgatory is a doctrine that was created by the early Catholic Church and it was never mentioned by Jesus nor the apostles. It is a FALSE doctrine.

And no, nowhere in the Bible are we told that those who go to Hell return as insects. That sounds like Hinduism.

as a young Catholic i was told ... nearly everybody
I do not think you are telling the truth. The only way to heaven is through God - the only way to God is through Jesus. Pretty much the same as Islam.

That is exactly wrong--- salvation IS earned, it isn't just a gift of grace thrown around randomly though some grace may also be involved.

Penances are worthless to God.
Which means exactly nothing.

What Jesus taught was for us to repent from wrongdoing, obey God's commandments, and to love God and one another. That's it.
You seem so lost in syntax and synonyms, you don't seem to realize that you are first saying I'm wrong, then confirming I was right.

Jesus never mentioned oxygen neither but oxygen is real too.

But it is true nevertheless. There is a great deal not mentioned, described or explained in the Bible, which is a good reason to also look beyond it to a few other faiths to get a broader view of spirituality.

We are called to repent (change) from our old, worldly, sinful, ways. Our hearts must change. We must freely choose to follow Jesus. Following Jesus means to love and obey God the Father and to love one another. That is what leads to salvation.

Paying a pennance does nothing and I would like to see scriptures that say otherwise. I suspect that the corrupted, early Roman Church created pennaces as fund raisers to live lavish lifestyles.

I encourage you to stick to the scriptures and to RUN from Catholic theology. By the way, I was a Catholic for 50 years.

Well, I don't know where you get that stuff about returning in animal form...

but other things u say here are true or more/less true according to the Catholic Church - and Jesus founded only ONE Church.. (Catholic)

so in other words, your post was not as much like walking over glass shards as others have been :)

You've been taught HUGE lies

I'll probably go back to ignore because ... me? I've fed up with all the lies in the world.

Just one.

Sorry about the rest of you.

No, when one has the TRUE faith, there is absolutely NO need and shouldn't be the least desire to go to other religions, all of which are false. Jesus founded only ONE Church. He also said (in so many words) that getting to Heaven is DIFFICULT... paraphrase.

So I pray that everyone enters the Catholic Church (the real one. Not all clergy are truly Catholic, obviously). I've experienced miracles there. I will not say what those miracles are because I'd probably (ho hum, nothing new here) get laughed to scorn or something
