Never a good idea to look at the sun. I said "never'. That includes Monday, August 21st, during the solar eclipse. Media keeps reporting about special glasses you can wear to watch the eclipse. They also report that there are some fake glasses out there, that offer no protection.

So, if you wear a pair of alleged protective glasses out there, and they turn out to be fakes, you'll be blind for the rest of your life. Hmmm. Sounds like a bad gamble. Not much to gain. A lot to lose. As for the eclipse. who cares ?

You can go to harbor freight and pick up some cheap welders goggles for five bucks.
Or if you want a better view you can get a self darkening mask for thirtyfive bucks.
Thanks. I'll just watch it on TV (if I watch it at all)

I wonder how many people might still use those cheap ones from Amazon, or worse just a pair of sunglasses.
Its a rare event but not worth partial vision loss and burned retinas.
