Trump's congressional lackeys, ever eager to please, appear to be hellbent upon disenfranchising as many African-American voters as possible. That is hardly novel. Before major party realignment, Southern Democrats disenfranchised Blacks after the Civil War, and followed that formula until the 1960s, after which Nixon's "Southern Strategy" exploited racism for the GOP.

Given the pervasive and relentlessly increasing unpopularity of Trump, is this the best strategy the GOP can concoct for November?

It may be.

It may be the GOP’s best strategy. Will it be successful? Possibly, because Trump fever has not broken over much of the GOP. Democrats may be more motivated than Pubs but that may not be enough to overcome the gerrymandered maps.

I think the people's will should overcome the gerrymandering.
