One guy, a small town mayor in Mississippi, does not represent the entire Right-Wing. According to Tonja Johnson, the executive director of the Madison County Library System, they have a library board that decides which books are allowed and which aren't, and I assume there are mechanisms in place to remove/replace individuals on that board if the public isn't pleased with their decisions. But I doubt the mayor has that authority; in any event I'm sure this will end up in court.
My own opinion is that everyone, including students, ought to have access to learn about CRT, LGBTQ rights and what the fuss is all about. I also think most kids are going to learn all about it on the street rather than in the library, but the books oughta be there IMHO. Let the parents and the community decide, not the mayor.

It is censorship. It’s the action of one elected official to suppress a perfectly legal book or set of books. It obviously implicates governmental action even if the Mayor is acting unilaterally and contrary to the legally passed budget. But another to advocate for it one way or the other, telling kids what to think is wrong. They're going to hear a lot of crap on the street so IMHO maybe it's best to hear the truth in school and let them make up their own minds.
