First of all, it's apparent that women are citizens under the law, and well-integrated into positions of power in society. Their fundamental legal rights aren't going away, unless one counts abortion (which is an issue about when human life begins, not solely an issue of reproductive rights).

This article from the Guardian accuses the Trump admin of threatening women's rights in a variety of ways, such as by appointing men to cabinet positions who have been accused of violence against women. The problem here is that this doesn't indicate a significant legal change to the status of women in America, and its effects on the ambiguous concept of "women's rights" are hard to approximate.

If someone believes that Trump is a threat to women's rights, I'd like to hear them extrapolate on the issue more, such as how they're defining a "woman's right" to begin with.

You know the answer. Trump has worked hard to restrict women's ability to get birth control and restricted their ability to end an unwanted pregnancy rendering them to breeding machines.

You have trolled to create yet another abortion thread. Im sure this will be ground breaking.

So, in your mind abortion is “birth control”?

The Guardian piece is more a flare in the sky than a court brief—it points to troubling patterns, not legal revocations. Trump’s rollback of international contraceptive aid and the dismantling of support programs absolutely deserve scrutiny. But if someone’s arguing that women’s legal rights are being stripped en masse, they need to name the law, not just the mood. That said, if you gut enforcement, defund support, and hand power to the openly hostile, rights don’t need to vanish on paper—they just quietly stop working.

  • Changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and employer-sponsored coverage Trump's administration allowed more employers and schools to claim religious or moral objections and opt out of providing contraceptive coverage in their health insurance plans, effectively eliminating the birth control coverage guarantee for some employees and students.
  • Targeting the Title X federal family planning program The Trump administration implemented policies, referred to by some as a "gag rule", that banned providers in the program from discussing abortion or referring patients for abortion, which led many clinics that offer comprehensive reproductive health care, including birth control, to leave the program. This reduced the availability of contraceptive care for low-income individuals.
  • Funding decisions and promoting abstinence-only education The Trump administration directed some Title X funds to clinics that do not provide hormonal contraception and promoted abstinence-only education programs, which have been shown to be less effective than comprehensive sex education that includes information about birth control.
  • Impact on foreign aid The Trump administration reinstated and expanded the Global Gag Rule (renamed "Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance"), which blocked U.S. global health assistance from non-U.S. organizations providing abortion services or referrals, potentially impacting access to contraception in other countries. It has also been reported that the Trump administration has taken actions potentially leading to the destruction of contraceptives earmarked for foreign aid.
  • Judicial appointments and legal challenges Trump's judicial appointments, particularly to the Supreme Court, have been viewed as potentially impacting reproductive rights, including the right to contraception. A current case, Braidwood v. Becerra, challenges the ACA's requirement for insurance coverage of preventive care, including birth control, and a ruling for the plaintiffs could result in the reimposition of copays and deductibles, or the denial of birth control coverage entirely.
  • Trump's statements and clarifications While acknowledging that some states may have different policies, Trump has stated that he would not advocate for imposing restrictions on birth control.

We already made it clear that abortion is an issue of when human life begins, not solely women's reproductive choices. So I excluded it from consideration as solely an issue that pertains to "women's rights". To portray it as that, you have to completely ignore the issue of determining when human life begins.

The first thing that jumps out at me here, is where are your links? This leads me to believe that on these issues, you gave me 6, you're flooding the zone, so that it's too much trouble to go through all of them...This is a well worn tactic. But, we'll go through them even though these could all have their own threads to go through properly.

1. Changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and employer-sponsored coverage

This topic has been addressed in various threads when this was put into place. There is no validity to the claim that women will go without BC because it isn't covered in health insurance offerings...

2. Targeting the Title X federal family planning program

Well first off with this, Abortion is NOT contraceptive by nature...And I am pretty sure that with today's technology, and access depending on the State you live in, women are well aware that Abortion exists.

3. Funding decisions and promoting abstinence-only education

You don't think abstinence should be part of the education? Why?

4. Impact on foreign aid

I am not concerned what BC we give, or educate other countries on...Let those other countries worry about that...

5. Judicial appointments and legal challenges

Well, boo freakin hoo! Elections have consequences...You people went through an election season using strategically placed hack judges to indict and convict Trump on bs charges that had NEVER even been attempted before...And you're crying that when Trump was in office he appointed judges? Tough shit.

6. Trump's statements and clarifications

So, you have a problem with Trump saying he wouldn't support restrictions?

Come on man, all you do is take the opposite side of what Trump says because he's Trump...Even when you would agree with the stance had it come from a Democrat...

People lose their minds over Abortion. My policy on abortion would be - "Safe, Legal, and Rare". I don't want Federal funds going towards it, a National Ban on it would be too extreme for most people. I don't lose my mind over Abortion, its not some hill I'll die on. What I don't like is Feminists and leftists bragging about it as some political issue. It shouldn't be considered a political issue.

Good pretense of NOT being on the side of the leftard shit talkers, when we all know that you are.

No, they are two separate things. Trump is trying to end women’s right to birth control, and access to birth control. MORE WHITE BABIES.

Also Trump is ending DEI initiatives which have benefitted WHITE WOMEN more than any other class or group.

Last, but certainly not least, voter ID laws are being written, passed and upheld which specifically disenfranchise women. These voter ID requirE the name on your driver’s license, to match the name on your birth certificate. Women who have taken their husband’s last name upon marriage, will not be allowed to vote at all.

Then there’s Trump’s promotion and advancement of men who have been credibly accused of sexual assault, rape and/or spousal violence against women - Pete Hegseth being chief among them.

You’re right, it’s actually a moral issue.

Stick to the topic.

What’s the percentage of abortions concerning that? Do you even know, or just appealing to emotion?

Slander.

This should be between the woman and her doctor, government should BUTT THE HELL OUT.

The biggest issue to me hasn't been implemented yet even though sadly there have been MAGA to push it.

Far too many have argued to intrude into a woman's personal private health care to push their views on women.

I'm pro-life but I'm never going to advocate a woman prove she miscarried in a terrible time for many. I can't even imagine pushing that.

Those are real concerns by people who think women’s rights are under attack. If you wanted to do anything other than troll you’d know that. All your responses were “sure it restricts women’s rights but those aren’t rights I want women to have.” **** you.

you need to note the word CONTRACEPTION WAS INCLUDED.

Define women’s “rights”? Where are these rights codified in law?

Just calling something a right, doesn’t make it so.

Abortion is not healthcare.

Who’s doing that?

You think people are concerned if a woman in the Congo gets an abortion?

lol, yeah right…Any opinion other than yours is trolling…sure.

Not at all, go back and read them.
