On Wednesday,…the Richmond Police Department announced the arrests of Guatemalan nationals 52-year-old illegal alien Julio Alvardo Dubon and 38-year-old illegal alien Rolman Balacarcel Ac for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at the city’s July 4th celebration.
According to Police Chief Gerald Smith, Dubon and Ac’s plan was thwarted thanks to an American “hero citizen” who overheard a conversation about the plot and subsequently called the police.

Why might two illegal aliens, one of whom had been deported twice, want to commit mass murder at a 4th of July parade?

Smith said they still do not have a clear motive as to why the pair allegedly sought to conduct a mass shooting on American citizens on July 4th.

I’m guessing we never will learn the answer to that question.

The best mass shooting is the one that is stopped before it starts. On the flip side, no gun law would have stopped the Highland Park shooting since the shooter's Dad got the guns for him.

The argument from his dad doesn't pass the smell test. Thinking his son was going to "use the guns at the target range" defies logic when he has attempted suicide, threatened others, had his sword and knives confiscated due to the perceived threat and clearly posts disturbing, violent posts on social media.

Who under those circumstances, would believe that arming such a kid with multiple guns made any sense?

Someone with mental health issues shouldn't be walking aroung with an AR-15

Yeah, both are illegal aliens who ended up getting guns. I think the Biden AG, allows the criminals to get the guns and use them on the citizens, so eventually the citizens will vote to give up there guns..

That isn't true....at the time of the shooting he is 21......the dad signing off on getting his FOID card doesn't really matter....at 21, he could have gotten his own FOID, and purchased the guns on his own......he bought the guns himself, he had some sort of money from his youtube videos....

No; it wasn't a red-flag law. Red flag laws take the guns of those legally able to own them without giving due process and before the crime is committed.

The police and the doctors at the time didn't flag him as dangerous but the father was supposed to know? Do you think his father knew he was going to go on a shooting spree so he helped him to get guns? Red Flag laws can indeed cast a wide net, snagging what you and I think of as criminals, but what family members think of as friends and loved ones, they may not have interfered with until they notified authorities, to prevent something they just could not stand by and watch happen to them, loved ones or others.

Nice explanation of red flag laws. Of course it has nothing to do with this story or this thread because North Carolina doesn't have red flag laws. It wasn't a red flag law that got those guys' guns taken; it was their crimes but thanks for sharing.

By your logic, every time an armed criminal is arrested it is a red flag law; it's not that they're arrested.
