Why isn’t that working today? The funeral director should report the death to the Social Security Administration (SSA) for you. If they do not, you must do this as soon as possible.
- SSA will notify Medicare.
- Any Social Security benefits the person was receiving will stop.
- You must return any payment for the month the person died.
- You can ask about Social Security survivors benefits when you call.

Religion is like getting life insurance. The dead with no insurance won't find out if it was paid and those wanting to be in heaven will be the only ones who find out if they made it.You’re going to live 2.5 years less. I guess you don’t care because you believe in heaven. See why religion is bad?

Are all deaths reported to Social Security?
Deaths not reported to the SSA are not recorded in the Social Security Death Index. Records have been kept since 1962, but the index contains a small number of people who died between 1937 and 1961. Records are released three years after a person's date of death.

How did that answer why it isn’t working today? Grandma was never mentioned. You posted the scenario ahead of the question, then went immediately to grandmama, strangeI clearly did. If the funeral director never sees her (because she's in the crawl space) the funeral director doesn't notify Social Security.

I read up on who reports and one does not have to be a funeral director. Are you a funeral director?
If you report it, falsely, your son would have to notify SS of the error.
In which case, I'm sure they'd pay him, including any missed amounts.
Nope.Would you use a forged death certificate? ... that's a felony ... use poison ... harder to trace ...
A vast majority are self-reporting after a few days ... how do you hide the smell? ...
