Iran is not interested in peace talks: Iran war: Tehran sees no reason to talk with US

Our former friends have understandably told us to go to hell: European countries reject Trump’s call for help to reopen strait of Hormuz

Iran wants their pound of flesh for this, at least. They're not going to let us out of there without some pain.

I'm assuming that there's some kind of back-channel talking going on, but how else can we get of this mess? Can't Trump just declare some kind of victory and run? He can just make something up. That's what he does. Just keep saying "we won, we won".

Ideas?

if his cabinet doesn't yank the 25th out from under him, ( & i don't see that happening ) then hopefully he'll croak soon - otherwise i don't see a real out. he may cut & run, call it an obliteration .., again- hoping that his base swallows it ...again but other than that?

what i DO hope & pray for is when he's gone, 1 way or the other - there better be nuremburg style trials to get a spark of justice served against them all & trust can maybe rebuild for america.

Trump singlehandedly destroyed his integrity and trustworthiness. He's insulted his voting base. He's insulted his allies. He's insulted his enemies. So much for "The Art Of The Deal." When you literally betray your supporters and the world sees it, you lose some credibility. When you literally betray your trade partners and allies, you lose your friends. When you literally bomb a nation that you're pretending to negotiate with, you lose your trust. I'm guessing Trump's new book will be entitled: "What Not To Do."

And get back to his original "America First" agenda. If he's too proud to do any of these things, then simply keep bombing, killing, destroying the economy, then die of old age.

I just keep thinking about the "intelligence" Trump was given before this. I wonder what contrary information he ignored. I wonder how many Generals tried to talk him out of it. I wonder how many critical, knowledgeable, experienced, connected people had been fired in the State Department because they didn't or wouldn't wear a red hat. I wonder who has been whispering in his ear. I wonder what Bebe has on him.

Now, at best, he's trying to play catch-up. He needs Europe's help now. God damn. There is no excuse for that. He clearly did this whole thing completely unaware of the downside.

He/we may luck out. But this has clearly been a study in abject incompetence, and perhaps worse.
