How do republicans make sense of Trump wanting to push for another round of stimulus payments yet pretends COVID isn’t a crisis?

Covid is a crisis...Dems helped to make it one...bigger and bigger and bigger...and then they sent in the rioters that infected who knows how many people....businesses need the nations help right now....we are always first on the scene with aid to tragic events all over the world...now its time we help our own citizens....if you libs and debt fearing republicans want to make this a bad thing you do so at your own peril......its time to help Americans....agree or disagree?....
Lol so what you are saying is that it is the fault of democrats that people need more stimulus checks? Wow that is just precious lol.
Agree or disagree?....time to help our own countrymen?....like we do for people all around the world.....or not?....
Yeah agree, which is why it is the left who has said from the beginning that if someone really needs temporary assistance, they should be able to get food stamps. After all, most recipients are either single parents or children. You have opposed this program no matter what in the past. How is all this different?

If this was his predecessor, the GOP would be apoplectic at such a suggestion....
If the democrats were in power right now the media wouldn’t be having around the clock COVID fear porn coverage and the Governors wouldn’t be shutting down everything while falsifying the COVID numbers.

I mean which is it? Is it a crisis? Trump definitely doesn’t act like it. He is only pushing for more checks because he desperately wants voters to like him. It’s pretty pathetic.

Republicans generally complain about this kind of socialism yet they won’t with these stimulus checks for two reasons:

1) Trump wants it so therefore it’s a great idea.

2) Welfare like this is obviously excused by republicans because, well, they are people who are getting it lol. It’s not like any republican will say no to their check. They only complain when other people get free monies. They will gladly accept their check yet continue the double speak of COVID being no biggie.

First off I disagree with the lock down and the stimulus.

Second, I don't care about Trump.

Third, if the government forces a shutdown of the economy, then it is somewhat logical that the group causing the damage, should pay for the damage, does it not?

The real solution is stop all the nonsense, and end all restrictions on the economy.
Let's pretend we never did a lockdown and from the beginning carried on like there was no virus at all. Just how much bigger do you think the death toll would be now if we never did any shutdown whatsoever? Would you really believe it would be 135k which is what the current death toll is?

Again, Japan and Sweden did not do a lock down, and their death rates are not much different than the rest of the world.

In fact, the places that had the most draconian lock downs, had much worse death rates.

There is almost no real correlation between lock down measures and death rates. Almost none.

There is no factual evidence you can point to, no science, no medical data, that shows that the lock downs were all that effective anywhere.

I think we should have not forced people with Covid-19 back into nursing homes with the most vulnerable people.

I think basic, wise, prudent moves, were all that were needed, just like Japan and Sweden.

No one is suggesting we carry on like there was no illness at all. What we are suggesting is that the lock down, and closing half the country, was unwarranted, and unnecessary, and ineffective, and the facts back that assessment.

That's our point. You can keep playing hypotheticals until the end of time, but I will keep hammering on the facts. Japan and Sweden did not have lock downs. Florida did not have mass lock downs. NYC did. Which had the biggest death rates? NYC.

That's not opinion. That's fact.
Well see there ARE statistics that show the shutdown has helped curb the spread of the virus. Your assertion that the shutdown didn't eliminate the spread completely is a totally unrealistic expectation. This is about slowing the spread.

No lock down. Magic? How do you explain that?

How do you know for absolute certain, that the decline was just the illness running it's course, as opposed to specifically being the result of the lock down?

Well you compare to places that had no lock down. I just did that.... not seeing it.

If this was his predecessor, the GOP would be apoplectic at such a suggestion....
If the democrats were in power right now the media wouldn’t be having around the clock COVID fear porn coverage and the Governors wouldn’t be shutting down everything while falsifying the COVID numbers.
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
None of this would be going on if Obama was in office right now.

Because government is the cause of unemployment. This absolutely ridiculous lock down, is the reason they need food stamps.

In any other situation, no. Get a job, and earn your own food.

But right now... NOW... when Democraps have spewed this end of the world nonsense, and used that to shut down the economy, in a bold attempt to use this as a political football to hammer Republicans with......

Now thanks to Democraps they need food stamps.

Okay it’s fucking stupid to wave around Sweden as proof that social distancing doesn’t matter. For one thing, Italy’s response was very muted from the beginning IN COMPARISON to other nations using the same timeline. What happened? They were, at the time, a huge hotspot for the virus. Now they got it more under control. How? SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES. i don’t know much about Sweden’s initial experiences with the virus, but they aren’t somehow some beacon for not doing jack shit.

In the US, there is a blatant correlation between spikes in cases and economies starting to reopen.

You should really look the BLS statistics because the #1 cause of jobs being lost is because of a lack of consumer demand - NOT government interference.

Get a job that pays well is not somehow practical advice for everyone. Why? Because higher wage jobs are in short supply. Therefore, mathematically, It is impossible for MOST poor people to get higher paying jobs regardless of how hard they try. Until they can find something better, it makes sense to offer them assistance. After all, like i said, most participants are children or single parents.

My my, this shit gets old.

Covid is a bug.

The economy isn't.

Fucking moron.

Yes, Sweden is.

Besides the fact that they pulled a Cuomo and got a bunch of elderly killed, they did not shut down and they are flatlining at single digit numbers in terms of deaths.

A lot of the mountain west did not shut down. This has been repeatedly pointed out. In St. George, Utah, nail solons were declared essential businessness.....guess what....very few issues.

If New York had not shut down, they'd still be dying by the thousands.

No, there is no correlation between the economy reopening, and Covid-19.

Most states were reopening at the start of May. The spike in Covid was June, almost mid June to be exact.

Given the 14-day average incubation period, it is clear that the reopening in Florida and the beaches on the East coast, had little effect.

What did have an effect, was the Floyd BLM protests that started after May 25th, which given the 14-day incubation, would have had a spike in cases right about.... early to mid-june.

Reopening the economy had nothing to do with the spike in cases, but the protests did.

Once again, facts Trump opinion.

It isn't welfare, you dope......it is a taking that needs to be covered under eminent domain.

Once again, facts Trump opinion.
Here is what the actual experts are saying:

“Charles Courtemanche and Aaron Yelowitz, professors in the Gatton College of Business and Economics, along with ISFE faculty affiliates developed a model based on differences in the scope and timing of policies implemented across the Midwest and the South. The goal was to predict the number of confirmed cases in Kentucky—had the state not imposed restrictions and relied instead on voluntary actions.

According to the model, the state’s measures have prevented more than 90% of confirmed cases. Although the authors did not directly examine deaths, combining the estimated reduction in cases with the COVID-19 fatality rate in Kentucky suggests approximately 2,000 lives were saved as of the time the study was released in late April.”

And yeah, there have been spikes all over the country since reopenings began.

How do you know for absolute certain, that the decline was just the illness running it's course, as opposed to specifically being the result of the lock down?

Well you compare to places that had no lock down. I just did that.... not seeing it.

They are not experts.

They are modelers.

Fuck, you are stupid.

And they have no baseline so they can say whatever they want and nobody can challenge them.

You really are a dumbass.

But the same can be said of Sweden.

They understood Freedom better than you ever will......

Hey my fellow countrymen.............here's the deal...........these are precautions........you are FREE to choose your path................Here are some rules..............but we will not FORCE ANYONE........to shutdown.............

They treated their people with respect........and their businesses.........and will have Herd Immunity before anyone else does.............They will be over it.....while we will still be dealing with it........All we have done is prolonged the siege of the virus.
