How did it all begin, this animosity towards Russia and communism in general?

President Truman started the arms race by developing the atomic bomb.

Wow, amazing!

President Truman was able to order the atomic bomb to go from a concept to a functioning device in just three months!

That is what is known as a "lie".

And before it was attacked, the Soviet Union was a German ally.

How many of MAGA here don't read, and while a few do most (Griffin, Chic, Doc get it all wrong).

Funny how you believe whatever state run media tells you about Putin, even though you know they’re propagandists. That’s an indication you’ve got a screw loose.
I just observe his behavior.

No you just believe whatever the establishment tells you.

Has it ever occurred to you Putin hasn’t been nearly as warlike as US presidents?

Bull, Putin has repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons, he had invaded his neighbors' multiple times, he has annexed the territory of those nations he has murdered his political opponents both inside Russia and abroad. Sweden and Finland recognize his threats and have joined NATO in self-defense.

As I thought. You’ve lost your mind.

This is especially striking because both of those nations had been proud to say they were neutral and taking no part in the East-West conflict since the end of WWII. For both of them to get off the fence (especially Finland) is a sure sign that they are done with trying to play the middle and no longer feel safe with an expansionist and militant Russia.

There is no expansionist Russia that is a figment of your imagination, since the end of WW2 when the Soviets allowed Finland to even exist after siding with Hitler even taking part in Barbarossa there were no problems between the two Countries after Finland agreed to be neutral and friendly with the Soviet Union, all of a sudden Finland went insane and decided to be an enemy of Russia again, probably money changed hands, i must have missed the referendum in Finland about joining NATO, oh wait

Georgia once, Ukraine twice, Poland once, Hungary twice, Czechoslovakia twice at least, the Baltic states at least twice each, Finland twice. All that within the last eighty years.

Finland didn't "agree" to be friendly; it had a pistol to its head and Russia took the best parts of Finland and turned the remainder into a client state under constant threat of extermination.

Bullshit! who told you that?

After World War II, Finland signed the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance with the Soviet Union in 1948. The agreement was renewed in 1955, 1970, and 1983.

Key provisions
  • Finland would fight against any attack on the Soviet Union that came through Finnish territory.

  • The Soviet Union would help Finland if it was attacked.

  • Finland would not join any organizations that the Soviet Union considered hostile.

  • The agreement designated the Paasikivi-Kekkonen line.

What the hell are you talking about they didn't invade some of those Countries they liberated them from the Nazis, some like Hungary and the Baltics had sided with the Nazis and took part in the Holocaust, as for Georgia even the EU said Saakashvili started it with a midnight Blitzkrieg and Putin wan't even President then, and as for Finland goeas the Soviets didn't occupy it they pulled all their troops out.

You have a short memory. Russia invaded Hungary twice to stamp out the anti-communist movements. the Russians puled their troops out AFTER blackmailing the Finns to get everything it wanted. Sounds just like Ukraine in 2014 doesn't it?

Hungary deserved to be put down, they fought with Hitler then they got out of their cage again but were put back, pick the wrong side in a genocidal war take part in the holocaust you don't get to decide what happens.

As usual according to you, Russia can do no wrong and no other nation has the right to determine its own course and policies.

How many countries gave we overthrown and installed our puppet leaders in, all of course while bringing them "freedom"? Just a matter of wording, that is all.

We don’t invade, conquer and occupy. We also don’t interfere anywhere as often as in the past. The USA is no paragon of virtue, but we are easily the best and least intrusive superpower that has ever existed.
Russia consistently uses military force to dominate its neighbors and refuses to allow them self-determination. It’s not “just a matter or wording”. The USA used to interfere to prevent communist dictatorships which harmed the people. Look at Venezuela for an example, once one of the most prosperous nations in the western hemisphere, now it broke and its people are starving because of a communist/socialist government that has destroyed the country.
