Well, okay, but it can be annoying if I enter a thread to post on the topic and some troll comes in and turns it to something completely off topic (like Hillary's emails) that I don't want to talk about, but I still want to talk about the topic, yeah, it can be annoying to posters other than the OP.Deciding if
something were indeed off topic, should certainly bear in mind the opinion of the person who posted the topic. Not solely mind you; but certainly in part. If a poster doesn’t mind his topic having some thread drift; why should anyone else care?you'll get hit for anything you can possibly be hit for, even when others are doing the same things in the same thread. They'll be ignored because they are in the same corner as the mod.
It's true we can't do much, because they DO "hit" you for actual infractions, however minor and however many people are getting away with it in the same thread. So what is the sense in bitching that you got a post pulled for lack of content in a post in Politics when you indeed DIDN'T put in anything but a flame? I've called out mods (politely, in PM) for "missing" like posts, and they've gone back and pulled them, too.
Like you also said, it's pretty rare. We all have moods, and some days are better than others.
I'm interested, though, in what bones is about, since the Queen seldom ventures outside her Kingdom.
Responding to an off topic post used in an attempt to shut down my argument and then being modded over it is bullshit. It's not just trolling/flaming. Deciding whether or not something is on topic enough leaves a gray area about the size of the Grand Canyon for mods to do whatever they want.
