House GOP’s First Vote? A Gift To Wealthy Tax Cheats

The only thing Republicans ever want to do to rein in the debt is to stop spending. But Republicans have been the party which has steadily increased the debt since Reagan was in office. Mostly in military spending and wars.

When Democrats increase spending, they tax to cover the cost. Republicans then cut the tax, and blame Democrats for the resulting deficit.

If you want to live in a a first world country, you have to pay for it. That's what taxes are. Your share of the costs of living in a first world country, If you want the biggest, baddest military in the world, open your wallet and pay for it.

What a stupid answer that is. The correct answer is to hire enough staff to properly process the returns and to audit for cheating.

Republicans don’t want rich people to pay taxes so they don’t want IRS to hire more agents.

I started a thread earlier. Rich people are not being audited. The middle class and poor are.

And there are very wealthy people who are not paying any taxes. That's not right at all

It's our tax system. A system enacted by BOTH Democrats and Republicans for campaign donations. One page return. Plain and simple.

Well, DUHHH, Captain Obvious. What do you do in your household if your debt gets too high, keep spending or cut back? The problem is, the Federal Government can print money, cities, and states, you and I can't. We have to live within our means. That's what Conservatives like me expect from Congress.

"But Republicans have been the party which has steadily increased the debt since Reagan was in office. Mostly in military spending and wars. "
As the Federal Government is Constitutionally required to do.
Article IV Section 4
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

"If you want to live in a a first world country, you have to pay for it. That's what taxes are. Your share of the costs of living in a first world country..."
What does any of this waste have to do with National Defense?

Sen. Paul Report: $482.3 Billion in Wasteful Government Spending in ...

Dec 27, 2022 Since the pandemic started, the U.S. government has spent more than $4.55 trillion on relief aid. More than $100 billion was stolen from those funds. "In fact, four people managed to use over $31.5 million in COVID-19 relief funds to purchase luxury cars," reported Sen. Paul.

"If you want the biggest, baddest military in the world, open your wallet and pay for it."
I will gladly continue to do so.

Tax Cheats?... are you kidding?... Biden owes thousands to the IRS... he has never reported a single dollar of gift tax for money Hunter placed into their family bank account... give us a break...
Biden is so corrupt there is no way anything you say about Trump isn't true about Joe.... The Biden's are a true crime family....
Hunter sharing monies in Biden's bank account, while VP is an issue.

The first “policy” vote of the new Republican-controlled House of Representatives continued with their theme of capitulation to the extreme right, and more pointedly the people who fundthe political careers of the far right. They voted along party lines, 221 to 210, to rescind the more than $70 billion in IRS funding included in the Inflation Reduction Act to help the agency modernize and more effectively do its job.

The Congressional Budget Office scored the bill, and determined that if that $70 billion was rescinded for real (it won’t be, the Senate won’t do it), it would decrease federal revenue by more than double that amount—$186 billion. That’s $186 billion in lost revenue FOR the nation’s coffers between now and 2032. That means it would actually cost the nation more than $114 billion in the next decade.

Yes, the party of fiscal responsibility.

Yep. Explode the deficit $100 billion on the first day, to give Elon Musk, and David Koch a tax cut.
Along with Biden, Obama, Clinton, Gates, and so on.

Republicans have contempt for sound, responsible governance.

Republicans have contempt for sound, responsible governance.
Evidently.

This is clearly a dog and pony show, red meat for their base. Even if it did pass the Senate and the President's desk—which it won't—it will end up costing us money that we can't collect from mostly filthy rich tax dodgers.

Everyone should be disgusted by this. The only mystery to me is why their fellow Republicans aren't raking this leadership over the coals for how transparently misguided their first move is. Elections are next year!

Musk is so intertwined with the government military defense of course they gift him a tax break

Obviously. Though "enacted by BOTH Democrats and Republicans" may bear some overstating in this crowd.
for campaign donations.
Far worse than just "for campaign donations"
One page return. Plain and simple.
One page obviously implies plainer and simpler than the status quo. Who's going to argue? Adding "return" though is where you screw up. One can actually jamb a ton of crap onto one page. How about a blank page or none at all? They already know what you're going to report so why not just refund folks or bill them for the difference? Why the same old song and dance, my friend? Because tax prep is a huge, make work, GDP producing boondoggle. Biden has been promising to make the IRS host free tax prep on their website for years and.. nothing. Turbo Tax, Tax Act, et al.. still lying to and screwing everyone same as ever.

Given what you've expressed of your views of what constitutes “sound, responsible governance”, there would have to be something very, very wrong with anyone who has anything but contempt for it.
You hit the trump crazy republicans on the nose. Thanks for confirming that dilemma in the Republican party.
