House and Senate sessions today

Unemployment Benefits extension not passed. Opposition championed by a person worth $27.2 million, never held a private industry job a day in his life, and comes from a state with has an unemployment rate of 8.2%.

And now for the real reason it wasn't passed. Harry Reid wanted sequester cuts in the year 2024 to pay for the extension. Yes, 2024! Hell, why not 2034 or 2054?

Rome is falling. We are broke.

No way...I haven't seen this yet.
Poor RandomTroller...he doesn't get to buy any new XBox games with his unemployment anymore.

Here is what I read...difficult to get any actual details from the media...

Reid and Democrats wanted to pay for the extension with cuts that would not take affect until 2014. (which means never)
Republicans wanted the cuts to take place sooner...Reid refused to hear this proposal.
Republicans had a second proposal to pay for the extension in a different way...Reid blocked the proposal.
The White House blames the Republicans and said they will continue to work to find a compromise........:eusa_eh::eusa_eh:

Continue to work to find a compromise??????
As usual, Reid blocks all republican proposals, refuses to even allow a discussion on his proposal...the bill fails...he gets no blame and the Republicans are earmarked for "refusing to compromise".

And the left falls for it again.:doubt:

Senate Democrats hitting back against Republicans who blocked unemployment benefits extension. YEAH!!

Senator Toomey speaking about an amendment that would gum up the vote on Bill 1845. Toomey's number one contributor?: Club for Growth.

Of course it is. "Current Pennsylvania United States Senator Pat Toomey served as president from 2005 through 2009." So one can be president of a 501(c)4 and then have that PAC as one's largest contributor? By the way the IRS "scandal" was about 501(c)4s.

Senator McConnell says to what needs to be done to stimulate the economy is to promote international trade. They have already got a tax break for shipping jobs overseas. What would they like next?

Senator McConnell pouring his hear out over the President Obama over killing the coal industry. He is take action against the agencies holding back the poor, struggling coal industry.

Lobbying total 2010, over $18 million. Party split, over $7 million Republican, a little less than $1 million Democrat. Top recipients 2013-2104, 1) Boehner (R), 2) Capito (R), 3) Barr (R), 4) McKinley (R), 5) what? who is it? why none other than McConnell (R).

Senator Graham on the Senate floor going off about Benghazi. "And I've been told..." We should definitely get to the bottom of this, at the expense of an unemployment benefits extension. Oh my, you should hear this guy speak. He is very, very upset.

Three U.S. Senators, McCain, Graham, & Ayotte, just took about 20 minutes on the Senate floor to wail about the Benghazi cover-up. Some of that stuff got downright wacky.

Senator Murray just spoke for several minutes of the 1.5 million of unemployed who would benefit from the unemployment benefits extension. 3 Republican Senators, see above, spoke many more minutes about Benghazi. Yet Reuters and most all other news agencies will say nothing but that the Democrats and Republicans could not come to an agreement. If any news agency whatsoever called it like it is, the Democrats stepped up and the Republicans never showed up, they would be labeled as a liberal rag. Why is this?
