As Trump’s political rivals put increasing pressure on the reality television star to be transparent about his personal finances, Trump came up with a rather unexpected reason for his supposed “persecution” by the IRS. You see, said Trump, he is being attacked because of his faith.

“Maybe because of the fact that I am a strong Christian ... you see what’s happened, you have many religious groups complaining about that,” Trump told CNN recently when asked why the IRS might be picking on him.

“Hostility to religion in America is rising like floodwaters, as proven by the increased numbers of cases and attacks documented in this report,” First Liberty’s president, Kelly Shackleford declares in the introduction to Undeniable.

But the report does not contain any information that actually proves Shackleford’s persecution claims. In fact, most of the cases it cites are years old; some date back to the late 1980s. That’s a bit misleading, considering that Shackleford claims that the persecution of Christians is markedly on the rise.

I am not a religious person myself. With that, I am a conservative first and a republican 2nd. I used to be a precinct committeeman and I used to 'push the slate' for a lot of politicians who I didn't necessarily like or support personally.

I see those situations as opting for the lessor of two evils (pun intended.)

At this point, there is nothing that Trump (or any other conservative candidate) could say or do that would result in Hitlary getting a vote from me.

The presidency is an important role but they are not "kings." So, as bad as "Trump" might be in some situations, he's a helluva lot better than the alternative. Especially when we consider the presidency as just one part of the overall body of our governmental representatives.
