Actually, that only works in a country that allows the police and prosecutors to have vast powers to go after people...that is how Japan does it. their police can stop and search you whenever they want and they even inspect your home 2 times a year. prosecutors can hold suspects without letting them see lawyers for long periods of time and judges don't care about coerced confessions......

you want that...for just 8,454 gun murders out of a country of over 320 million people...where most of those shootings happen in small, multi block areas controlled by criminal gangs........


Our gun murder rate is going down, not up, and more Americans than ever before now own and actually carry guns for self defense...12.8 million people carrying guns for self defense, and the gun murder rate is going down.

And of course you are wrong about the rest of the world.....France has the gun control laws you want...every one of them.....and 3 terrorists, one a convicted criminal, 2 on government terrorist watch lists, easily got fully automatic rifles, 30 round magazines, grenades and pistols........then you have another bunch of shooters in Marseilles who also used fully automatic rifles to shoot up the neighborhood an hour before the prime minister went there to talk about crime.....Then you have Denmark...ditto so...fully automatic rifles again...Sweden, Belgium.....

and now the guy from Morroco who also got a fully automatic rifle easily and got it onto a commuter train...

We also have the highest rate of inner city blacks and Hispanics. Get rid of inner city blacks and Hispanics in the gun murder count and our rates look like any of those countries.

The choices include term limits for Prime Ministers, a flat tax, a law to encourage the 'greening' of public spaces and the repealing of Britain's hand gun ban. Following the Dunblane massacre in 1996, in which 16 schoolchildren were killed, Parliament passed The Firearms Act of 1997, which essentially banned handguns for the atrocity.

But Britons seem unconvinced by the law. The proposer, known as "Colliemum" asked, "...why should only criminals be 'allowed' to possess guns and shoot unarmed, defenceless citizens and police officers?"

While the poll continues, so far over 80 percent of the 11,000+ respondents have told the Telegraph that they want to see the handgun ban repealed. suicides don't count......Japan, China, South Korea, Hungary, Poland.....all have strict to absolute gun control and they all have higher suicide rates than we do.....Also, 19,000 people commit suicide without guns in this country. If guns were not available, the other 21,000 suicides would just use what the other 19,000 used....rope is one of the most popular methods....

A relative of mine is a cop....a detective. he goes to suicides all the time....not one so far used a gun...they all used a rope.

I didn't look into it yet, but I heard this discussion on the radio earlier this week. Michael Medved stated that the US ranks 50th in suicides around the world. I've yet to see anybody challenge his statistics so I'm assuming he's correct.
