As the release notes, there was nothing that law enforcement could have done. There was very little the family could have done as he was an adult and it's incredibly hard to get someone committed.

You've never actually fired a gun, have you? A fully automatic M-16 or M4 is about 700 to 900 rounds per minute or 15 rounds per second. His 60 rounds, with a magazine change, would have taken less than 12 seconds if he had modified his gun to full auto.

He was firing at about 3/4 of a second per shot. I can manually dump a mag in under 15 seconds without even trying hard. Manual rapid fire for a weapons expert like most of our Army vets here, including a mag change, they could probably do the 60 shots in under 30 seconds but probably closer to 20 seconds.

I was in the Army and Reserves for 11 years... and what they taught us was that if you fire full auto, you fire in 3-5 round bursts. Otherwise you lose accuracy.

I'm sure he could have fired 700 rounds per minute, if he had 700 rounds available, and didn't bother aiming at his targets.

It's pretty clear he was firing a bump stock.
