I want to discuss the fallacy of the per capita argument being applied incorrectly to many common modern talking points and issues today. Let’s take crime for example as one of the most major issues this red herring is applied to.

According to the FBI database white people make up about 70% of the criminal population in America while black people make up about 27% of the criminal population. However when talking about crime, black people are usually listed as the most major contributors to the crime problem in America. The argument is usually based on the calculation of per capita the population and ratios at who is committing the crimes.

The problem with the per capita argument as it’s presented in this very specific example is that it’s a red herring fallacy. An irrelevant point that shifts the blame from the most major contributing factor of all crimes which is the white population. It’s a way to minimize the actual main problem of white crime by shifting the blame to a “per capita” argument.

Hitting someone with an innocent object is not always assault. That’s a stretch. These batons are very lightweight, almost as safe as children’s toys.
This is something that should be handled by track meet and scholastic sports officials.

The video wasn’t terribly clear and there seemed to be a significant delay between the strike and the reaction.
Again, it’s very difficult to injure anyone — even intentionally -- with one of these batons. They’re harmless. I coached HS track, indoor, outdoor and cross country for ten years. I’ve been involved with track and field since the 1960’s. I’ve seen the gear and facilities evolve over the decades, mostly in the name of safety and also for performance enhancement.
Your last paragraph underscores my take on this; let the rules committees and schools dole out any punishment, not the law. This entire incident is way overblown.

I was just about the post the same thing, and to ask what her punishment should be.
IMO, this violent girl should be banned from ALL sports (not just track) for the remainder of her high school career - thus killing any chance of an athletic scholarship for college. She should also be required to get an after-school job at Target, Mcadonald’s, wherever - and have her earnings go to her victim’s medical expenses.

True. My college boyfriend had a 3.6 and decent but not great MCAT score, and he was rejected from every medical school he applied to. (White boys don’t get into med school with a 3.6.) His best friend was black, and had a lower GPA and worse MCAT. He received multiple acceptances.

Yeah, here we have another sad white tale. White women WERE the number 1 recipient of DEI nd Affirmative Action. That is a fact. If what happened to your wife is true, it is because the university had been practicing racial discrimination and got caught. And just because someone black was hired in the some place doesn't mean that your race was not a consideration. So what your argument boils down to is that you are white and you want things to remain the same whereby whites continue getting all the advantages. Your argument isn't about merit, because merit has never been a consideration and if we started today doing things only because of merit, nothing changes. Whites still have advantages based on race because they are in positions and have experience because they were put in those positions only because of their race.

Last, hilarious is how whites who have not had any real serious consistent contact with blacks think they can speak as experts about blacks, while blacks who are outnumbered 5:1 by whites and have constant exposure to whites can't learn about whites even as we are educated to learn white history, white philosophy, white religious views, white sociology, white politics and opinions, etc.
