High school track has changed. Runner attacked!

This is not your father's track meet.. Girl attacked!
We can debate all kinds of nonsense here but the only real question is, what should the attacker's punishment be? I would say a 6 month stay in a hard labor camp ought to do it.

Weight has not a damned thing to do with force. Take a physics class. Force equals mass times acceleration. What you lose in mass you make up for in acceleration.

I've forgotten more about physics then you've ever learned.

Apparently including the formula for calculating kinetic energy: half the mass, times the velocity SQUARED. Velocity is more important than mass: double the velocity and the KE is quadrupled.

Violence at high school sports events is not uncommon. Nobody seems to mind when genetic men brutalize girls and women in events.

Whatever the weight of the baton was, the force was enough to fracture the victim's skull. So no matter how you want to recognize the light weight, the fracture still has to be accepted and explained.
