It is the Republican Party that is rewriting history. In no way is the Republican Party the party of Abraham Lincoln. Not the modern Republican Party. The modern Republican Party is the antithesis of what Lincoln stood for. What's in a name? At one time, the party to which Lincoln belonged was named the Republican Party, but their values and goals were opposite to those of the modern day Republican Party. Poor Lincoln would be turning over in his grave being identified as aligned with current day Republicans
.
Empty partisan blather.
The GOP has been pro-civil rights since before it was cool, and has never wavered on this point.
African-Americans were republicans longer then we've been democrats. What exactly did republicans do for Black people all those years we were voting for them? It sure as Hell wasn't Civil Rights .. and some of the worst atrocities blacks have suffered were done on the republican watch.
SHORTLY after blacks became democrats .. Civil Rights legislation was passed.
Actually, it was civil rights.
I've posted some of the stuff Nixon did. Do you want more examples of civil right from the gop?
Under Reagan the Black Middle Class grew rapidly.
I recall predictions that going into the Persian Gulf War that blacks always died disproportionately.
Thanks to Reagan's military, not only was the casualties minimal, but they were NOT disproportionately black.
I asked what republicans did for their black constituents before we became democrats. From 1930 to 1960 .. what did republicans do for Black people who were voting for them?
You keep touting Nixon as if he was some civil rights hero. He wasn't.

I posted Nixon's record on Civil Rights and Affirmative Action which you have not addressed.
Since you asked for more, specifically between 30 and 60 here is an example.
African-American Civil Rights Movement (1954–68) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Arkansas Democratic Party, which then controlled politics in the state, put significant pressure on Faubus after he had indicated he would investigate bringing Arkansas into compliance with the
Browndecision. Faubus then took his stand against integration and against the Federal court ruling.
Faubus' resistance received the attention of President
Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was determined to enforce the orders of the Federal courts. Critics had charged he was lukewarm, at best, on the goal of desegregation of public schools. But, Eisenhower federalized the
National Guard in Arkansas and ordered them to return to their barracks. Eisenhower deployed elements of the
101st Airborne Division to Little Rock to protect the students."
Eisenhower was of course, a republican.
