"Qualified" is difficult to say. Few people have ever run an organization of that magnitude, and we hope that he can select a team of competent underlings to carry out his vision for the Department of Defense.
The issues are HUGE, and from what I saw, very few of them were explored during the hearings, with most Senators looking for sound bites that would get news coverage rather than going into what has to be done and how PH intends to do it.
The loss of a manufacturing base in the U.S., as compared to what it was during, say, WWII is extremely alarming. If we had to mobilize for war, it would be a total shit show.
