Has the GOP been infiltrated by the left?

You would be wrong. It's been infiltrated by an extreme right wing cult that worships a single man under the guise of defending the Constitution and putting America first.
^^^ leftard talking points.

This person is pretending to be a rightie.

And not succeeding.

I agree with you on the spending, but practically every pol in DC is guilty of that regardless of party affiliation.

They also have to appease the very powerful media, who will paint you in an entirely negative light should you dare to venture from what they deem as politically correct. Just look at MTG as an example, she goes against the grain and is smeared at every possible opportunity. Should they stick to their convictions regardless of that, absolutely, but they're only human and want to retain their job, so they do what they must to ensure that. They're basically spineless, and who knows what's being used or held against them to keep them in line, lots of dirt in DC.

As far as Trump, you made claims without any specifics except for bump stocks, which I agree with you on, but the rent moratorium was hardly his doing, it was issued by the CDC, and extended after the election and continued under the Biden admin.

I think you need to give more examples of what you mean by 'unconstitutional BS' and how he 'invoked' 'liberty smashing legislation' and exactly what legislation you're referring to?

FISA 702. Warrantless spying on Americans.
Patriot act, which gives the government the authority to trespass without a warrant or probable cause.
All that money he borrowed from the fed, which helped to destroy the USD value even more, goes against out economic liberty and forces us to pay more for things because the government devalued the currency. It's one thing if a manufacturer or a retail store increases their prices. But being forced to do it, because of a currency deficit created by the government, is another.
That forces price increases. It forces wage increases. It hurts an companies trade.

The rent moratorium, regardless of the pressures, it was Trump who gave the CDC the authorization to initiate it. That in itself goes against the liberties of those who had rental property. While governors somehow had the authority to close businesses, that in itself should've been stopped by the supreme court. Especially in the states. Trump was not against the closings. He sort of blew with the wind on that issue.

I'm thinking the GOP has been infiltrated by the left. Maybe it started in 1980 with Reagan. Maybe a little before that. IDK. But regardless, it's my opinion that somewhere in the not so distant past, the left began funding and infiltrating the GOP with dem-lites. (Liberal Republicans, RINO's etc etc)
They'll take someone who's easily bought and paid for (in it for the money). Fund them, promote them and get them elected. And all they have to do is play a part. People like all of my states congressmen and senators. Republicans who will vote for debt ceiling increases, funding for places like Ukraine. Gender studies in Pakistan etc etc etc
Take Trump for example (I seen you rolling your eyes).... Where else in our history of this country, would republicans support ANY republican who spent as much as he did. Support as much unconstitutional BS as he has and invoke as much liberty smashing legislation as he has?
Would any one have supported Trump if he said he was going ban bump stocks and spend $8 trillion in just 4 years? Or if he said he would sign a bill that forces landlords to not force their tenants to pay rent?
Not in a million years, all the way up to 2020, would we support someone like that. 2024 for some of you.

So I'm thinking the left have secretly infiltrated not only our elections, but infiltrated who's allowed to run.
Oh sure they don't control everyone. They couldn't. They'll let people like Chip Roy, Rand Paul & Mike Lee get elected. But for the most part, they gotta fund their own campaigns.
What GOP politician has been in congress the longest? Certainly not McCarthy. So how did he get into a position to become speaker? His voting record sucks to high heaven. He's left of center on almost all issues. He's caved to Biden. He caved to Pelosi. So did Trump. Trump constantly caved to Pelosi and the establishment.
The left did to the GOP what the big government republicans did to the 07 tea party. And it's a safe bet that the left had already infiltrated the GOP by 2007. Probably by 1980.

You gotta admit that every single time we get a fiscal conservative POTUS candidate, he gets thrown under the bus by his own party.
The GOP got overtaken by crackpots and religious yahoos

Has the GOP been infiltrated by the left?

Ever hear of the term "RINO?" "Republican In Name Only." The Bush boys were Globalists and very friendly with the Demwit Party. The GOP was infiltrated a long time ago.
Yes the GOP has its ups and downs and on occasion veers left of center on this or that going all the way to at least Nixon who saddled us with the EPA. Reagan was condemned as Trump has been for excessive spending but with the exception of COVID which was something NO President in U.S. history has had to deal with in the same way, both spent for the benefit of a strong, free, prosperous, secure America.

Bush 43 in many areas--defense, education, energy, legal and illegal immigration, environment--would have made any old guard Democrat proud as he straddled and often shifted left of the line between left and right.

The actual spending record of each administration is illustrated here:
https://www.cato.org/blog/century-federal-spending-1925-2025 and when compared to GDP Trump's record wasn't all that bad.

The only real difference between the two parties are the constituents they represent and depend on for votes.

Those who reject many liberties and want to be governed, i.e. cared for from cradle to grave, and toward that end will accept or ignore destruction of shared values, traditions, moral center, most often vote Democrat.

Those who value shared American values, traditions, moral center, who want their unalienable rights secured including liberty of thought, speech, choice, options, opportunity, innovation, entrepreneurship and ability to achieve visions for a strong, free, prosperous, secure America most often vote Republican.

Each party will throw their constituents the kinds of bones they most value.

The only problem I have with Trumps covid spending is that he signed the bill without ensuring there's be little to no room for corruption. Most of that money went to corrupt sources. Like giving out money for people to roof their homes or businesses. And a TON of other "pork."

Hell you do. The last three years was nothing but their culture war shit.

Culture war shit? Oh you mean like opposing trannies from introducing their lifestyle to kindergarteners? That's not really a religious thing. It's a common sense thing. It's a protecting our children thing.

You can't tell shit from shinola.
Anyways, you're stuck with Trump on top of the ticket in 24. Deal with it

Trump was as fallible as any other human. Considering the probable human suffering and unnecessary death that could have resulted from vetoing that bill--remember EVERYBODY was operating pretty blind in those first months of the pandemic--he came down on the side of caution and compassion. There wasn't time to do much of anything else. That some would exploit or commit fraud was the lesser worry at the time and he knew Pelosi and Schumer very well. They never would have allowed the bill to be passed if it didn't contain a lot of goodies for the Democrats.

Nah. It's just that most of them weren't principled conservatives to begin with.

It's also true that, like liberalism, conservatism is a broad coalition. Not everyone who calls themselves "conservative" is interested in fiscal restraint and limited government. There's the religious right, Second amendment people, law and order types. Being conservative means different things to different people.
