I'm arguing that people who discuss this topic should have a higher level of knowledge than just googling and repeating soundbytes for which they have no knowledge of the underlying foundations and facts. This lack of information, and sometimes outright misinformation, is contributing to the conflict.

You've mistakenly claimed that written documents in and of themselves can resolve questions of legality, but that's not true, we have courts, yes we have statutes but we also need an authority to make a decision and interpret all those documents, consider precedents and so on.

If you sign a contract which says, "I agree to pay $500 to the owner of this object in exchange for ownership of the object", a judge can't just "interpret" that to mean that you have actually agreed to pay $9000 and that ownership of the object reverts after 90 days of possession of the object. The words in the Treaties matter.
