I understand it and supported it from day one. What I don't support is the do nothings MAGAts that place the games instead of supporting the USA. It should have been passed in early 2024. But no, your Orange Cheeto Gawd didn't want it passed because it may make Biden look good (Biden supported it) and he could use it to hammer Biden with. tRump was correct, about half of the nation bought his duplicity.

What you supported was a fraud. The phony border bill was layers of new laws your senile god was under no obligation to abide by. Biden-Harris utterly ignored existing law. There was every expectiation he would ignore myriad new laws if those laws impacted his importation of illegals.

It was tabled in the Senate. ALL Republican Senators voted to table it along with 7 Democrats that claimed it was too conservative. It was very conservative and it gave the Reps exactly what they wanted. But the Clown Car rolled into town.

Why did the sponsors of the bill eventually back away from supporting the bill?

In the Senate, it was not passed due to all Reps voting to table it and 7 Dems voted the same way. It was killed off even though the Dems had controlling interest. The reason that was done for the Reps was because your Orange Cheeto Gawd told them to kill it. They didn't kill it, they tabled it and will pass it quickly sometime after Jan 20th.
