Gun Ownership / Laws Discussion & Debate

Joe I told you firearms and everything surrounding them is my expertise. You were warned, care for round two?

The only thing that you've proven is that you're a crazy person who probably needs to be medicated.

Did you get out of the Army on a Section 8?

Nope I recieved an honorable with a good conduct medal, then went into Law Enforcement. Call me crazy but you lost this debate you were warned.

oooo, a "Good Condut Medal" Hey, I got one of those too, it's not that impressive.

But, yeah, guy, I just have this vision involving a trailer park and internet connection.

Dont worry Joe, we will protect you even though you wont, i promise.

Guy, I'm more worried about the people you let get guns than the Government having them.

I don't worry the "gummit is going to get me" with their black helicopters like you and the other resident nutters.

I worry that some untreated crazy person will be able to walk into a store or my workplace with a gun he shouldn't have ever been allowed to get and start shooting people because Jesus told him to.

Yeah, guy, I have a job I go to, while you're in the trailer park waiting for your welfare check.

But you hate the gummit!

Yes I also have a job I make my own money sometimes when things are slow I can stay in the office other times I have to work late at night I have some crazy work hours, but let's get back to the discussion.

Sorry, man, the discussion was over when you blamed that little girl's father for her death.

YOu are defending a ludicrous notion.

Crazy people should not be allowed to buy guns.

But I can see why you'd be worried if we ever started enforcing that rule vigorously.

You know thats not true Joe I said he failed her by not being able to protect her. That is not blaming him for her death. The shooter is to be blamed but her fatjher failed her. If he had been armed chances are she would be alive today. I take protecting my family very serious maybe you should too.

Call it what you want to JOE he should have been armed, and trained in it's usage.

So who do you call to protect you Joe?

Joe life is to short you should be like me and be prepared I really don't care who has a gun, because if someoine try's to pull a gun on me I will shoot them. I am never worried about what someone may have and what their mental state my be, I am prepared to take what ever action is neccessary to take care of the situation.

I don't know where you got that table on the red and blue states but the indication that Pennsylvania is a blue state is incorrect. Pennsylvania is one of the most pro gun states in the Union,

Blue, but as bluedog The state does present a good mix.

Yep, has a good mix but if Pennsylvania is pro gun control, explain how the Castle Doctrine got passed. Takes affect on August 29.

I constructed this post in 2009.

The basis of the information is in this link, which is provided in the post:
The original webpage has been replaced, the link takes you to the Internet Wayback Machine.

The original list is in PDF format, otherwise I would simply reproducer it here.

States in Blue represent the states with gun laws that the Brady Campaign rated as more restrictive.

The states in Red represent the states with gun laws that Brady Campaign rated as most in need of tightening.

So you don't think it's a mans duty to protect his family?

I think it's society's responsibility to keep us all safe. That's why we have laws. That's why we have police, and courts, and prisons. What you advocate is some Mel Gibson-post apocolyptic nightmare..

It is truly bizarre that when a little girl is killed in what should be a safe place, meeting a member of congress - the very soul of our democracy that we can do this- and her father is at fault for not anticipating that a crazy person was allowed to buy a gun with an extra large clip and no background check.

Maybe her father had a reasonable expectation that we live in a civilized society.

But not thanks to you guys. You guys think that Jarod should be allowed to buy a gun, and the best prediction is that someone might shoot him before he shoots them.

1. We aren't a democracy, We are a Constitutional Republic
In a democracy the majority rules
before 1861 the majority of Americans thought slavery was ok, A Constitutional Republic changed that

2. No it isn't the Superme Court has ruled that it's not Law Enforcements duty to protect anyone. They cannot beheld liable is they don't.

3. No it isn't people intent on doing harm do not go to places known to have guns, what a better place than to go to a democratic rally.

Maybe her father had a reasonable expectation that we live in a civilized society.

4. Her father failed her. You wanted to use the little girl as a tool, does it hurt when you get it slapped back in your face? Her father failed her thats the cold hard facts and truth.

and her father is at fault for not anticipating that a crazy person was allowed to buy a gun with an extra large clip and no background check.

5. A) it's called a magazine not a clip
5. B) you do realize the firing function of a revolver and a seni automatic weapon are the same?
I can take a revoilver with 12 speed loaders and do the same thing with a semi automatic and 6 magazine's and be just as fast with either.

Hey Joe for chits and grins let's discuss this reply

I am in a good mood and will allow you a pass on the other question
How many mass shooting have we had at a gun show or a place where people are known to be armed.

Instead of wading threw this NRA Sewage of bullshit, a simple question, which you guys can't answer.

Pretend for a moment you are speaking to the mother of Christina-Taylor Green. (The little girl killed by Jared Loughner.)

I want to hear what argument you would use to explain to her why a crazy person should be allowed to buy a gun because you have a delusion you can fight off the government with a handgun.

Go on. I'd like to hear what one of you would actually say to her.

The same thing I would say if she had been killed by a drunk driver or a hatchet wielding serial killer...I wouldn't blame the car, or the alcohol, or the hatchet...I would blame the person responsible.

Guy, once again, you lost all credibility when you blamed the father for not anticipating his daughter might be killed by a madman who was able to get a gun because of lax gun laws...

Other than that, you're kind of boring. Seriously, Clips vs. Magazines...

Are you like some kind of idiot?

I call the cops. That's their job.

One they do very well, I might add. Only had to do it about three times in my 50 years, but they are very good at it and more qualified than I am.

Which is the point of being in a CIVILIZED society. Each to his own, what he does best.

When we let a Jared Loughner not only run the streets free (thank you, liberal moonbats) but also be able to buy a gun (thank you reactionary Wingnuts), we have failed in our duties as a society.

There is no logical reason why Jared Loughner should have been able to get a gun. The imaginary threat that a mean old Gummit might take over pales between the notion that mentally unstable people can acquire the ability to kill easily.

That we have an angry, crazy fringe that prevents us from taking common sense approaches to prevent that from happening, and then having the nerve to blame the father for not anticipating that, well, seriously, guy, you have some issues.

here GUY this is what I said

I would have said you should have been armed, shame on you for not protecting your daughter. It is a mans duty to protect his family her father failed her.

How many shootings have we had at places that are know to have people armed? Has there ever been a mass shooting at a gun show?

Other than that, you're kind of boring. Seriously, Clips vs. Magazines...

If you're going to discuss a subject at least know the correct terminology. But we have so many unanswered question to take care of.

Ready for round two?
score right now is 1-0 my favor.

Yup, dont worry Joe, dont you worry one bit.

I don't.

But the laws are idiotic.

Okay, one more time, gun nuts.

Explain to me what compelling reason there is that Jared Loughner should be able to buy a gun with an extra large clip.... oh, wait, excuse me "magazine"....

What greater good is accomplished there. Please let me know.

I can't think of a damned one. All I see is a sick kid who was made dangerous by stupid, lax laws.

Sorry but your sadly mistaken
Warren v. District of Columbia
Decision

By a 4-3 decision the court decided that Warren was not entitled to remedy at the bar despite the demonstrable abuse and ineptitude on the part of the police. The court held that official police personnel and the government employing them are not generally liable to victims of criminal acts for a failure to provide adequate police protection.

Again, you lost any credibility in this argument when you blamed her dad for not being Mr. Crazy Vigilante...

really Joe are you saying you've had enough? Come on Joe you don't own a gun yet you for some reason think you can dictate that I shouldn't have one either. shame oin you.
