The issue is that you usually need accumulated wealth to even qualify for a loan to begin with. That was even more true in the early 1980s when interest rates were a lot higher than they are now. The 1990s was probably the first time in American history that African Americans were able to make serious economic progress relative to their white counterparts, though I concede that probably depends on the metric, of which there are potentially many to go by.

I can't speak to the video, but as for the issue of high rates black crime in urban centers, it's culture. More specifically, micro-culture. White America had a pretty significant hand in creating black American culture and many of the socioeconomic problems black people face.

Well, what do their expect? A woke mentality that thinks it is okay to allow people to steal up to so much with impunity don't care about the victims of that theft. Or if the police aren't doing their job or are spread so thin they can't get there in time to catch the thieves.

Yes the store carries insurance but there is always a deductible and multiple claims force the insurors to keep raising the premiums or cancel coverage altogether. A store can only raise prices as much as their customers will pay.

If the situation is widespread in an area then everybody's insurance premiums go up.

Grocery stores and retailers can remain in areas of high crime and theft. In the age of kiosks and personalized shoppers, simply invert the store by putting concrete, bars, and steel doors in front of the registers. Shoppers can either pre-order online and come in and pickup or go to the store order from a kiosk or ask a personal shopper to go get everything. The store stays in the neighborhood and theft at the store goes down.

Of course, a social activist will point to the fact that the stores in suburban and wealthy areas don’t operate like that. Simply tell them that when and if crime stats get to the point that makes it difficult for the store to operate, they too will adopt the same model.
