We do not want to be Americans: Greenland's Prime Minister rejects Trump's proposal
Greenland's Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede asserted that Greenland cannot be bought or taken, emphasizing the island's right to self-determination. His statement comes after President Trump expressed the United States' interest in acquiring Greenland. Trump's comments have fueled interest in...m.economictimes.com
Greenland cannot remain independent.. Even what they have now is only an illusion of independence. That doesn't mean they have to submit to tyranny but it does mean they have to make a choice and they need to make one soon.
Without anyway to defend either their waterways or their acreage Greenland's claim to independence is nothing but a fairytale.
Going forward They will not be able sustain any kind of workable economy, provide any real security or even make decisions about the development of their land. Trump is right... in this condition Greenland presents a security threat to North America.
This is not hard to understand.
you are virtually a second before sieg heil and your life invested in belief of a divined superiority. Just sayn. Don’t act surprised later.![]()

Stop talking out of your ass. Greenland is protected by NATO and is under no threat from anyone except trump. And he's an extremist idiot.
Not 100% sure what you just said.... Let me say this in a response. NATO can't even wipe its own ass Europe never mind protect Greenland. There's only one nation on the planet she could provide them with security and that is the United States and the United States Navy. Less than 60,000 people can't even generate a workable economy never mind raise an army. Has China and Russia continue to expand the parameters of their national authority and power projection Greenland will simply fall under the heel unless they are aligned with no less than the United States. Right now they're just acting like stupid petulant children who really believe they can stand in the road and stop a truck.I really don’t like the colonialism/isolationism of the US. I think it will benefit China and Russia.
But, given how fucking dum Americans are, maybe it’s for the best. A real shit show, nothing anyone wanted, but it’s pretty clear that US is out of the game.

The principal benefit of acquiring Greenland would be US national security, which benefits all Americans. How would poor and middle class Americans become indentured to pay for development? On the contrary, they would enjoy greater job opportunities and income. The fixed-pie theory is about two centuries out of date.
You are in Sweden. Why do you care?I really don’t like the colonialism/isolationism of the US. I think it will benefit China and Russia.

Apparently, Trump is not the first POTUS to covet Greenland:Denmark should have a role in it too.

It's not a security threat to the US, it's a part of Denmark which is a US ally, or was until Trump decided to be a total dick.
Of course it's a security threat they can't patrol their waters. They can't even patrol their skies.
They have no way of preventing a highly developed Navy like China or Russia from landing on their shores. Get your head out of your cloud generator and start thinking about the actual world that we live in instead of Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale book that the left pulls out every time they want to pretend the world is a happy happy joy place.... It isn't.

This is a false equivalency. None of those other presidents suggested they’d “do whatever it takes” or that they’d take Greenland from Denmark by force.Apparently, Trump is not the first POTUS to covet Greenland:
Greenland as 51st state: What US taking over Arctic island could look like
"Trump is not the first U.S. president to float the idea of taking control of Greenland, with examples reaching as far back as 1867, when the Andrew Johnson administration looked into buying the island after the Alaska deal, in which America bought Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million.
"The most serious bid to incorporate Greenland was made in 1946, when former President Harry S. Truman made a post-World War II offer to buy the island from Denmark for $100 million in gold, which was refused.
"Trump first mentioned his desire to acquire Greenland during his first term, in 2019, which Denmark rejected, and has made this quest a major focus of his current administration."
This is a false equivalency. None of those other presidents suggested they’d “do whatever it takes” or that they’d take Greenland from Denmark by force.
Even if it’s just hot air, it’s very unpresidential and unAmerican
Claiming that Greenland presents a security threat to North America is absurd. If the US wants to expand it's military in Greenland, they should be talking to Denmark and NATO.![]()
