There's no proposal for new government housing projects ... just upgrading existing public housing to modern building codes ... it really is that expensive ... material prices are the better part of ten times as expensive since Hurricane Katrina, and there's the better part of ten times the building regulations ...

A part of the homeless are drug addicts, these people need expensive residential treatment facilities run like a hospital ... another part is mental health issues and again, expensive residential treatment facilities as expensive as a hospital ... what remains is far far easier to house; reasonable people and no drugs ... a landlord's dream come true ...

My oldest son was born in a tobacco shed we shared with two other families ... all we could afford ... but not homeless ... it's profoundly illegal to rent a tobacco shed out for housing, so maybe it's the laws that are the problem ...
