When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) unveiled a “pop-up” clinic offering coveted coronavirus vaccines in an affluent, mostly White part of Manatee County, Fla., lawmakers on both sides of the aisle slammed the plan for excluding residents in the rest of the county.​

But on Wednesday, the governor offered no apologies, warning that he could instead take the doses elsewhere.​

“If Manatee County doesn’t like us doing this, then we are totally fine with putting this in counties that want it,” DeSantis said at a news conference. “We’re totally happy to do that.”​

As wealthy individuals in Florida and around the country snap up a disproportionate number of vaccination appointments, critics say DeSantis’s plan for the “pop-up” clinic near Tampa is only bound to widen disparities.​

Some jurisdictions have targeted Zip codes that were hit especially hard by the virus, but many in Manatee County fear DeSantis’s plan will do the opposite, benefiting an area that has been least affected by the pandemic — including a few of the individuals who worked with the governor.​

Ironic how just a few weeks ago some wingers were on here making snarky comments about California's power grid. Those in California are enjoying some nice early spring weather (60s - 70s) and are having no power grid problems.

Our power grid problems come when the temperatures get to over 100. California like Texas has been forced by the left to divert funding from maintenance and improvements to useless renewable energy.

Which is untrue since the biggest problems with extreme temps are extreme use of energy, it overloads the system and the system installed can produce more yet it takes a waiver of EPA guidelines, but since this is Texass and they are all "private" then they can get the gov. to say "power up". The whole problem in Texass was the inability to engineer a product that could withstand an extreme condition because they figured it was okay since it is a chance of no greater then 20% of it happening in the lifetime of the infrastructure. Yet, the more people that settle in a new area increased the demand for power production to create an artificial environment for humans.

I engineered my living space to face extreme elements and never run out of fire for heat and light along with water from live springs to supplement living.

California's rolling blackouts during the summer is normal for a state that size with millions of customers/users. Here's the record as of today on how California is handling blackouts. One column is the number of customers in service areas and the other is how many of them are currently experiencing blackouts.
