GOP Strategist Behind Republican Obstruction Of Obama Now Laughably Calling For Compromise

What does the GOP achieve by not pushign for everything on their agenda?

If the answer was 'peace', would you have any interest at all?
Some people think that "peace" is the absence of actual fighting.

But they are wrong.

Peace is the absence of threat.

As long as the Democrats keep proposing their crackpot schemes that can degrade or ruin the country, there is no peace. Regardless of whether Republicans oppose them or not.

The people rejected the Dems' crackpot schemes hugely, on Nov. 4. Now it is up to Republicans to come up with plans and projects the people want, for a change. (Hint to Republicans: More entitlements, more government restriction, more debt, and more govt expansion ain't it.)

I'm not ready to play nice.

Suit yourself. We won. The door's right over there.

The Democrats keep showing their fine sense of humor. They're still calling the Republicans' passage of hundreds of bills that would bring the Fed govt back to Constitutional conformance - only to see them die in the Democrat-held Senate - "obstruction".

Except the Democrats don't know how humorous their rhetoric is. They are actually serious with their tripe.

But everyone else is laughing.

Luntz is right, of course. He's a smart guy.

When "pushing their agenda" = not getting anything done, the GOP doesn't really "achieve" anything.
Stopping Obama is an achievement. Progress and achievement are certainly not mutually exclusive.

"Stopping" Obama from doing what?
Carbon tax. Higher mn wage. More taxes. More regulations. All the things he's announced.

Do you really feel threatened? :dunno: That's such a strong word.

That is so sad. Or paranoid.

Do you really see EVERYthing that's not republican as a 'crackpot scheme that's ruining and degrading the country'?

:dunno: What, for that matter IS the republican plan?

I simply can't relate to viewing half the people in America with such venom and as enemies.

How do you tell who's who in traffic? :eusa_eh:

Silly fucksticks don't seem to understand that Obama doesn't legislate, only Congress can do that.

Luntz is absolutely correct, the GOP needs to take this opportunity to show the American people not only that we are the superior party, but that we have superior solutions and are able to serve them better. It's time to get work done.

Liberals on USMB seem determined to reinvent the wheel, deny reality, and lie.

The only thing standing between our constitution and obamas socialism for,the last four years has been the House of Representatives. Thank god for them. Our country would be unrecignizable to the greatest generation if Obama had controlled both houses of congress for the last four years. That by itself is an historic accomplishment. Protecting the country from a serial liar, incompetent, inexperienced, totally unable to demonstrate any leadership individual that occupies the presidency is something all citizens should be thankful for.

The facts are that Obama had Harry Reid stop any budget for six years, any bipartisan legislation from the house for four years. The president jammed the biggest piece of social legislation in 50 years through without any bipartisan support and every criticism of,obamacare has turned out to be true. We citizens who objected are characterized as stupid by arrogant and elitist libs. Obama straight faced lied to the American people and postponed illegally the aca laws so we would not know, the truth until after, the elections. Every minority group is in worse shape now than before Obama came into office. We are a laughingstock in international affairs and our country is in more danger today than before Obama came to office.

Obama does not care about our country or about the people in it. His only concern is with the concentration of power among progressives and America be damned. Nothing illustrates this point better than obamas reckless urge to create greater divisions in this country with his unconstitutional actions proposed for immigration. I guess he failed to read the memo that said 80 percent of those in exit polls said they did not want the president to use executive orders for immigration.

The constant liberal harping on republican obstructionism is a myth perpetrated by the press and the president while Harry Reid is left untouched. As one poster has already said, stopping Obama from destroying America is not only an achievement but progress. Thank our great good fortune that we live in a country that has a system that will not allow a renegade president to run roughshod over our constitution. Shame on liberals who believe that provoking an unnecessary constitutional crisis and tearing the country apart is good politics, and shame on dems who put party before country and the rule of law.

In an op-ed for The New York Times that was published Thursday, Republican strategist and pollster Frank Luntz said that after winning the Senate majority, Republicans should work with Democrats and President Obama to find “common-sense solutions” to a number of issues. However, Luntz is one of the key figures behind the GOP obstruction that has plagued Washington since Obama was elected President six years ago. The famed Republican wordsmith was one of the organizers behind the infamous inauguration night dinner in 2009.

It was at that dinner, as Obama was celebrating his inauguration as America’s first black president, that Luntz and other influential Republicans gathered and decided that they would cause as much gridlock as possible in order to regain control of the House, Senate and White House. Republicans gained control of the House in 2010 during the Tea Party wave, thanks mostly to their objections over healthcare reform. Despite not winning the Senate or White House in 2012, the GOP continued their obstructionist tactics throughout Obama’s second term. Now that they took the upper chamber, many are now striking a conciliatory tone and claiming they want to work on bipartisan solutions.

You will be...you will be. Besides, better a strategist than an actual member of Congress, don't you agree?

(To Speaker John Boehner)

“In the spirit of bipartisan cooperation, I am writing to ask the Democratic members be treated fairly in regards to membership on standing committees,” Pelosi wrote. “Specifically, we are asking that the minority party receive a similar number of committee slots….as we provided to the Republican minority in the 111th Congress.”

One wonders why you aren't nipping at her heels?

Obamacare comes to mind...

The original democratic plan called for a true public option but they passed a national version of Republican authored RomnyCare as a compromise.
