You may be confusing Trump's attacking the democratic process in 2020 when he couldn't handle losing with the Democratic response to his winning in 2016. There were no goon attacks on Congress or fake elector schemes in 2016, nor in 2024.

When a migrant crosses the border, what do they always do immediately when they are confronted by border patrol, or when they turn themselves in to border patrol, or other enforcement agency? They claim they need 'asylum'.

When they do so, they are given a court date (which could be years away) and their status is NOT considered as being an 'illegal'.
During this period, they are able to receive Medicaid coverage for their healthcare.

Once the 'Big Beautiful Bill' was passed in July, there is a provision in the bill that eliminates this requirement.

Democrats demand we go back to the way it was.

So here's the thing. "Technically" you can say that Republicans are lying when they say Dimocrats want to go back to giving healthcare to illegals, but the REAL truth here is, the vast majority of people claiming they need 'asylum' are doing so under false pretense, and they know it! They always demand they need asylum, because they know it A-U-T-O-M-A-T-I-C-A-L-Y buys them time, much of the time years.

So in affect, these people are 'illegals', since their legal status will likely be taken away once they get to court, and in the interim they should not have qualified for the Medicaid benefits.

No, there are rare instances where people are caught voting illegally. There are many that do so, but few are caught because that would require an investigation, which is not tenable for millions of registered voters. Democrats don’t want to secure elections for this reason. They welcome illegals to register. It shouldn’t be shock to you. Illegals are able to get drivers licenses and even vote in local elections in some blue cities. It isn’t exactly a stretch to believe that the same people that push these policies would push for illegal voter registration.

In your case, you had it good. You were laid off but paid for six months.

In both my cases, I got two weeks’ notice. The first time, I found a job within three weeks (it was the 80s, and girls in their early to mid 20s had no problem), but the second time, in the recession of 09, I was early 50s and jobs were scarce. Took me 8 months - no paycheck - but finally found something. I had my emergency fund to tide me over and did not have to go into my IRA.

The point is that govt workers KNOW there’s a shutdown risk each fall and a possibility of a delayed paycheck. All they really need is 3 months in an ER fund.

I think the chapter 11 restructuring bankruptcy court MADE the Corporation pay the employees laid off....I doubt it was out of their good will...
