Getting back to that minimum wage issue again

Remember those whining about how big businesses will go bankrupt if the wage goes to $15 an hour...Walmart raises wages for 425,000 associates, about half of U.S. employees now earn $15 per hour

A higher wage mandate doesn't create wealth; it merely shifts it around. The CBO finds that a $15 minimum wage will raise wages for some workers, result in layoffs for others and be a net loss for income overall. The lowest-skilled workers tend to be the lowest-paid workers, and they'll suffer the most consequences.

In this case, the wage increase for Walmart isn't for ALL employees!

It isn't the big businesses that will fail, but Mom and/or Pop which are being jammed out of business.

Those little outfits can't afford the automation advances that the big guys in Bentonville, or in Target's Minnesota headquarters can, so they get schlonged.

So they have to have a lot more expensive labor at the high rates.

Not only that, they get a lower quality of employee as they don't have the efficiency in vetting prospective associates.

So I guess these states are doomed...Minimum wage set to rise in 20 states, 32 localities as growing number adopt $15 an hour

The minimum wage is targeted. Meaning many small mom and pops are exempted due to not having the minimum number of employees to trigger the increased wage. I think it's 50 in some places.

What are you talking about? No one anywhere, ever said that "Big business" will go bankrupt.

No, of course. Big business, the mega corporations, are the ones that will benefit from a higher minimum wage.

Why? Because all the other smaller businesses that don't have the money of walmart, or the ability to replace workers with kiosks like McDonalds, will go out of business.

All the small companies will close. That will force everyone to use Walmart and McDonalds, thus they will get more wealthy, as competition is eliminated.

No one anywhere has ever suggested that Walmart and McDonald's will close. They'll be fine. In fact, better than fine. They'll make more profits than ever.

All the poorer companies and business, they will be the ones forced out, and closed. Poor get poorer, and rich get richer... and Democrats celebrate their stupidity with a victory at making the wealthy elite more wealthy.

Don't be stupid. learn something about how economics works.

Here's a hint stupid..... when the super wealthy..... support what you support? That's because it benefits them at your expense.

Why would anyone set a minimum wage? Is anyone putting a gun to their heads?

It makes no sense.

The assumption, of course, is that everyone working has to raise a family on it. This is a lie. What of teenagers who want a summer job or work through college? What of retirees who want a little more income, etc.

All this will do is limit jobs, reduce the economy, and prop up huge corporations that are owned by the democrat party.

No they are not. And the link you posted, does not indicate that either.

Ps no one cares if companies raise their starting wage it's the US government doing it national that's the economic problem.

No, I don't. It was small businesses doing the whining that they would go bankrupt.

And of course corrupt big business uses their influence over corrupt politicians to regulate small business out of business.
