George W. Bush Visits Fort Hood, Wounded Soldiers

The fact that President Obama has not yet had the opportunity to visit Ft Hood does not bother me one bit. He is the President for crying out loud and I am sure that when the time is right he will make that visit. I am certain that the U.S. Goverment has and will do what it right by these families.

No amount of "celebrity" visits are going to change what happened or make the families of those lost in this tragedy feel any better and it sure as heck wont bring the dead back to life.

Thank you to President Bush for visiting when you could.

Thank you to President Obama for understanding that there is not anything you can do at this point. Take your time and do this right.

Now that I agree with. I suspect that POTUS would like to visit - and I suspect it is not about a photo op. I think he genuinely cares. He did the right thing on this occasion - although I thought his speech was inappropriately worded - he should have begun his remarks with Ft Hood - not a 'shout out'. Other than that, I have no issue with Obama not having yet visited those affected. It will be much better done when the community is more able to cope with such a visit.

My understanding is that a memorial cerimony will be held at Ft Hood on Tuesday and that the President will attend. Regardless of your personal feelings toward Obama, it is proper and fitting that he be there, speak to the community and yes, even have his picture taken.

The war on terror killed or captured 70% of Al Qaeda's leadership and killed or captured thousands of it's members.

Who told you that? Oh that's right , Jr did!!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: :cuckoo:

Many of them are in GITMO.

The ones that lived.

Some of them were household names that have long been forgotten because they're ether dead or locked up.

Why is it important he be there? Should he be at all burial ceremonies of killed Troops? If not, why is this more important than the Troops who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan who have had ceremonies?

Notice that Bush visited the wounded troops and their families that were there and did not show up with the press or photographers. He brought his wife and they did what they came to do and left.

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

the press (like the rest of the US) doesn't care about Bush anymore and would rather he fade away like the smell of a shitstain on your carpet when the puppie was bad. The press are going to follow Obama wherever they can and report.

Are you actually capable of reading? I have - not once - said he should not go or criticised him for not having rushed there. Your problem may be that you are too blinded by partisanship or just too ******* stupid, to see that.

Idiot.

I think he needs to be there.

His problem is he's not proactive enough for the job.

He's mainly concerned with pushing his tax-raising, liberty-stealing programs down our throats.

Why should he be there?

Why ***** about his domestic liberal agenda but support liberal foreign policy agendas that are like....ya know.....killing lots of people?

There is no doubt at all that had the press any clue that President and Mrs Bush were en route to Ft Hood that they would have been all over them. The press has to sell news and this would have been as Big as Obama going there. The press has not forgotten President Bush.
And read some of these posts in the politics areas, They still love to blame Bush.

sounds like you feel sorry for ole Dubya......"sniff".

I didn't get the impression that he was criticizing either one of us. It seemed like he was simply pointing out some information about the memorial ceremony scheduled for tomorrow.

Did I miss something?

Well done George W. Actions speak louder than words.

"Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.

The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."

Good for him. Maybe Dubya will make a better ex-president than president. :)
That's what happened to Carter.

Because he's their Commander in Chief. It's in his ******* Job Description. If he doesn't want to to the job - that's fine - he can **** off and we'll have a 'do over'.

Where is it in his job description that says he must perform a dog and pony show? Plus, CINC isn't an actual military rank when referencing politicians. Rumsfeld knew the importance of that phrase when he changed who could be given the title over 7 years ago. You probably didn't know CINC would also be used for actual Military personnel and it was not limited to the Prez. Obama's first priority should be seeking methods of ending occupations that are getting our troops killed. The time he spends bending over for PC garbage could be better spent trying to figure out how to prevent even more troops from dying. He can't bring back the lives lost at Ft Hood but he could help prevent future unnecessary losses. But hey, maybe my priorities are screwed up and I lack the ability to understand why saving lives is less important than some really ******* stupid PR gig. Why don't you tell me to go Serve again. Worked out great the first time! (I figured you'd ignore that.)

*btw....at first I didn't know but now I see the purpose of the Neg Rep button is for children to tell on themselves. Very clever!

He can do both.

Need I explain why and how?

15th post
I think he should skip it.

Me too, I doubt that anyone would miss him. After all, they were already visited by the President that they respect more and truly respects them for their service.

no he cannot do both at the same time but I'm sure you're so full of shit you could paint a peanut trail from here to Jupiter and back and only lose four pounds.

True.. and when that is pointed out I stand against those earmarks too...

Funny.. the GI Bill bill could have simply stood alone and easily passed with bipartisan support... but the lefties decided to include things that they knew would otherwise never pass... which then put many like myself in opposition of the bill

Funny, Diamond Dave made the accusation about earmarks in the GI Bill, so I asked him to NAME 'EM...he couldn't...

Funny, In his opposition to the GI Bill, John McCain only talked about retention issues, BUT let's go with your reason for not supporting our troops...those earmarks

earmarks.gif

The chart serves two purposes... the tiny little red sliver represents those earmarks in the Federal budget, and the tiny little red sliver represents HOW much Bush and McCain care about our troops...

You right wingers support WAR, not troops, the human beings that fight 'em!

When you make this sort of stupidly pathetic and offensive statement, all you demonstrate is that there is no depth to which you will not sink to point score.

It is rare that I resort to actually considering anyone on a forum pondscum - I genuinely believe you are the first. I guess I should congratulate you on being more offensive than total assclowns like Huggy and Gaybiker.

Pond scum? Looks like my post hit too close to home for the "compassionate conservative" Cali girl...

Our Constitution provides for our military.

Our Constitution does not provide for a bunch of ******* lazy asses who won't work and keep breeding like rabbits.

So, let's keep the military and get rid of poor people. If we didn't have poor people, the rest of us wouldn't have to keep paying for them. Whiny poor people are who are draining our country, not our military.

"We have all made mistakes. But Dante tells us that divine justice weighs the sins of the cold-blooded and the sins of the warm-hearted on different scales. Better the occasional faults of a party living in the spirit of charity than the consistent omissions of a party frozen in the ice of its own indifference."
President John F. Kennedy

You mean like Obamas priorities of taking over Private companies and all the healthcare in the USA, Or maybe his priorities of campaigning instead of making a decision on his hand picked Generals requests? Or maybe the Priority where he made his own ceremony at Dover to maybe take some of the heat off for not making that decision in a timely manner.
God I'm Glad I'm Retired.
